If we have ushers (not the groomsmen) to assist in seating guests, are they put in the processional?

I am an usher in a wedding in September and we are not in the processional. Typically, ushers only escort guests into the wedding, they aren't apart of the actual ceremony. It's all up to the Bride and Groom though.

No. The ushers will seat the guests and then take a seat themselves. You can recognize them with the bridal party, during the reception, but they aren't in the processional at all.

That depends on who you are seating. If you are having a special song for the seating of the families/mothers, ushers may escort a mother that does not have an escort.

For example if there was no father to escort the mother of the groom an usher can have that honor. Also if there are other special women in your life such as a godmother or aunt, an usher can seat them during the song. The mother of the bride always is seated last during that song. (The mother of the groom is second to last.)

A friend of mine was just married and had 3 ushers who seated her mom and special aunts, it worked beautiful.

If there is no one special for them to escort then they are not required to be in the procession, but they don't necessarily need to sit in the back, they can sit behind the groomsmen if you choose.

Good luck!

No they aren't in the processional. Unless they would have been groomsman as the ushers helping with seating. But If they won't have a girl to walk with down the isle with then they shouldn't be a part of it.

I don't think so. Our ushers sat down with the rest of the friends & family just before we started the ceremony.

Nope, not usually.

Most churches have someone that comes in for the rehearsal that goes over all of that for you. I wanted to keep mine simple and it took over an hour - to go over all the steps and make sure people knew what to do.

However, if you want them to - you can do it. It's your wedding.
