It doesn't matter. You can go back while you still have a poison ivy rash. You just have to make sure that your skin doesn't brush up against any poison ivy/oak/sumac. Also the oil can get on your clothes or shoes and then rub off on your skin. The best thing is to learn exactly what these plants looks like.

Go back where ever you want but, I would start by getting some information on what's in those woods. Not everything is friendly you know. Get pictures of Poison Ivy and Poison Oak, some of the more frequently met insects that can harm you and wild life like the local snakes.

You can go back to a wooded area as soon as you know what poison ivy looks like! And just stay away from it.

Being in the woods won't make a poison ivy rash any worse.
