was offered a job at a restuarant close to my house and I plan on quitting my draftsman job when school starts... but they make me wear high heel shoes which hurt my feet so much.. After one hour my feet really begin to hurt and I have to stand like that for ten hours a day... Does his persistant pain mean that I'm burning calories? Is this more effective than jogging or running?

No, pain does not make you lose weight. If you do lose weight when you're in pain, then it's because you're in so much pain that you're not even thinking of eating.

Another thing: If they make waitresses wer high heels, then they don't value their employees. What kind of place makes waitresses wear heels? That is horrible!!!!

No....it does not mean you are burning calories, it means you are hurting your feet and may be doing damage to them that you will regret. Tell your boss that the heels are causing you pain and ask him if you can wear a more comfortable walking shoe. Some are really nice and can be dressy.

pain in ur feet doesnt mean ur losing weight......soreness in ur calves or ur legs can mean ur getting some leg muscles or using muscles that u never did before....but u can be losing weight from walking around all day and standing...im sure the heels add an extra umph to that kind of exercise...but in general pain doesnt mean ur losing weight....just means ur hurting

i dont know about high heels but my hubby lost weight because he couldnt eat because of his pain. i wouldnt substitute exercise for pain. i dont think your losing calories only hurting your feet and back.

you need to quit the waitress job, those heels are destroying your feet, that is why they hurt all the time. You will end up with huge bunions and shortened tendons and you will eventually have pain no matter what shoes you wear.
Frankly, that restaurant needs to be reported to OSHA, they are contributing to the ill health of their workers.
