I know a guy who is 25 yrs old, 5"8" tall and drinks and smokes pot A LOT. A friend of mine saw that he has become very skinny so I am wondering if a) is anorexic (I doubt it since he eats everything) or b) if it's the alcohool and pot. Please help shed a light on this problem!

At 25, the only reason your friend is thin, is his metabolic rate. Alcohol turns to pure sugar in the blood stream, and it is 100% empty calories. Pot, stimulates the hunger centers and make you crave stuff that is usually less than nourishing.
Of course, he could be a brittle diabetic, that causes extreme and rapid weight loss and most end up dead or in the hospital fairly quickly if they continue such behaviors, or don't seek treatment. But, if your friend seems otherwise healthy, it is likely just his youthful metabolic rate that is keeping him thin, when he turns thirty, you will see his weight balloon with continued abuse of those substances.

Who gives a S**T if the prison industry gets hurt, the prison industry is built on the brutalization of human beings and screw them. I don't want my government getting in my dope bizness and I DON'T WANT my 'dro legalized. Look at everything else they've gotten into, they've just eff'ed it up. Leave the 'dro alone, Big Brotha. Alcohol is more dangerous but in moderate amounts it's OK. We tried to prohibit alcohol before and that didn't work out very well, it simply created a market for bootleg alcohol that for the most part was poisonous and killed a lot of people because it wasn't regulated. It IS safer to smoke a joint than drink a beer, in many ways. I do not support the use of alcohol OR marijuana by anyone under the age of 21.

I can't answer for everyone but I can say this...I smoked pot a lot when I was younger and I was very skinny...I was skinnyup till I had my kids...that was also the time I quit smoking pot (it was time to grow up!) I had awesome metabolism, very active in cheerleading among other activities.
Smoking pot does a couple of things to you...1...makes you veg out...for a long time you just sit, staring into space, laughing at anything and everything that moves. 2...give you crazy munchies. You can and will eat anything in your reach.
I drank a lot too...but I drank liquor. I know that beer gives folks a "beer belly" Alcohol consumption is what they call "empty calories" meaning, there's a lot of calories in that little can. And it doesn't do anything for you health wise...not like eating cookies or chips giving you a feeling of having something in your stomach..if you were hungry when you started drinking, you'll be hungry when you're done. Those calories go somewhere. Your gut!
Now if your friend has suddenly gotten thinner...there could be any number of reasons for that...bulimia, exercise, an underlying health issue such as a thyroid problem, anything....including another drug habit...they call pot the doorway drug because people will start going into heavier drugs like coke or heroin in search of a bigger and better high.....a lot of those heavier addictive drugs cause a rapid decrease in body weight.
I don't mean to scare you, but you may have reason to be concerned about your friend. I don't know this man or how he might be if you approached him about it...most addicts deny having any drug use at all!!!! And a lot of people that use things like heroin have found ways of hiding it, by shooting into veins between their toes and such...or smoking it! One way to tell about heroin is the skin...heroin makes your skin look horrible...I don't know if it's acne or what but they usually end up with scabs all over their faces that look like picked at pimples....Coke makes your eyelids (the part closest to the eye) red and look irritated. They are usually pale and may have dark circles around the eyes like they haven't slept...They also rub their noses and sniff a lot, like they have a runny nose if they are snorting it.
Now...remember...it might not be a drug...he may have a thyroid problem or and eating disorder....I don't know what to tell you on how to approach him with it...I wish you all the luck!

Of course they do! Alcohol can lead to weight gain. And I suppose weight loss as well. It all depends on the person, their habits, everything. Alcohol and drugs tend to be depressants, so I wouldn't separate not eating and doing drugs. A could be a result of B.

Drinking and smoking affects your weight, and your health, and well just about everything.

alcohol drinkers tend to be fat because many acoholic drinks are not the healthiest drinks out there, but alcohol itself i beleive does not affect appetite or body wieght (altho it can make u throw up)

marijuana on the other hand will create appetite, so you will gain wieght, that is one of the reasons it is used medically, it can help cancer patients and other patients to eat more
