Look I'm atheist and I don't believe in your God, but religion and your beliefs fascinate me nonetheless.
You never know, maybe one day I will believe, I mean stranger things have happened.
Why are my questions about your faith met with so much anger when all I am trying to do is understand where you are coming from?
And why do so many reply with flippant remarks like "God is King" and Jesus is all I need" when I'm asking profoundly important questions?
Thanks.

Kerilyn- I have reread my question and I can't for the life of me see why you view this question as un-nice?
You ARE angry!

I'm not one of the christians that posted flippant or angry responses to you, but I think I know why some of them might have done it.
If you haven't noticed, there are a lot of confrontational posts on this site. There are a lot of people with opinions that are strongly in disagreement with each other. After being here for a while, I think people tend to get in a mindset where they will see a lot of questions as possible traps or insults.
Remember, with this method of communication, people aren't able to use a lot of physical and voice cues that signal their true emotions. Its very easy to take a comment in a bad way, even though it was not meant to be negative. This is especially true if you have been looking at a lot of posts that actually were meant to be negative.
Also, I've found that, quite often, if I bother to give a thorough and well thought-out response to questions the asker will choose someone as the best answer who simply posted some silly drivel that took no thought or research, but simply was something that asker agreed with.
A lot of people that ask questions here are really just looking for answers that will reinforce their preconceived beliefs. They have no interest whatsoever in learning anything or discovering new ideas. When this type of thing happens continuously, it tends to make people more likely to just type some quick flippant thing. Why bother to put a lot of effort into an answer when it will just be ignored? Or possibly ridiculed?

Actually, I spend a little bit of time participating in public meetings.... over the last 10 years or so I have come to recognise that people voicing their concerns and stating their point of view often do sound angry... but this is because they are passionate. There is a distinct difference between being passionate and just being angry. I always prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt... until they prove that they are just belligerant.
Unfortuantely, young people have emotions but cannot discern between them. They have probably expereinced the full gambit of emotions but have not understood what triggers them or how to react to them. They will often respond angrily when, if properly skilled, would mean to respond passionately.
That's the problem.. .a simple cmmunications difficulty for which we ought be more tolerant.
Well that's what I think anyway.

Law of averages sweetie. In any group of people, you're going to find some that are sincere and willing to answer your questions without a hint of anger, you're going to find people who aren't interested in taking the time to provide a good answer, and you're going to find people that get angry with anyone that disagrees with them!
In addition, the Y!A system actually rewards people for quantity over quality by awarding points for posting an answer...any answer no matter how short or pointless. By answering this question, I earned two points and only have a remote chance of earning another 10 if I get a "best answer". In the same amount of time, I could have posted at least 10 "God is King" answers and earned 20 points! If "they" (Y!A) increased the points earned for "best answers", allowed people to earn a varying amount of points based on ratings, or decreased the points for just answering, you'd probably see more people taking the time to try for a best answer instead of striving for pure quantity.
BTW, I love your avatar...looks a little like my new kitty (just a tad darker).

The reason is, the don't know how to really minister. They don't really know that much to really minister, and the real deal cristians, such as i, we do say God is King and jesus is all i need. But the question i have to ask you is... What would it hurt to believe? If you were wrong, then you got ta spend an eternity in a lake of fire, and if i were wrong, hey, i was just wrong. And all i have to say also, is that
In an athiest case,
The real deal cristian's lives would be full of coincidances.
Such as, when i prayed for my toe, wich was slightly dislocated, and bent, was instantaneously straight and normal once i was done praying?
This is just one of many examples.
And also, most christians aren't good debaters.
Athiests usally are

Dude, you're retarded, as properly as an fool. you're asking this considering the fact which you, the atheist, are seething with anger in direction of christians. those are actually not examples from the training of jesus, merely stupid so stated as "christians" who arent certainly christians. very practically each atheist at right here says stuff worse than that. each answer/ question they submit insults christians in some way. so maby you may desire to awaken. you're people who're offended. so get a existence and end insulting christians. oh wait, replaced into i offended? im so sorry. i merely get aggravated on the finished utter lack of know-how and bullcrap you retards positioned out.

Perhaps you have been engaging with young Christians who have no other weapons than anger and to fall back on a few scriptures. I have been a Christian for over twenty years, and I was well past a mis-spent youth before I accepted Christ. If you come to believe, it will probably be through observing a Christian walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Of course, you may be one that God just wants for His own and He will arrange a meeting with His Son. Pretty much how it happened for me, though He did use people, I was a hard-headed woman, and He got my attention.

I think you may have a point there , but Ive been kinda wondering about them being judgemental towards others .
I do beleiev in god , but in my own way .
I like to believe that god and science co-exist , but I would NEVER press my views on others or pass judgement on anyone . I get alot of opinions from christians myself

I'm sorry you've been met with these kinds of responses in the past. I've never personally seen any of your other questions here in R&S, but I try to give a clear, honest answer to whatever questions I answer. I look forward to seeing some of them in the future.

Hi there - just tuned in, and while I can not speak for others, I would be glad to take a stab at some of your questions about Christianity. For whatever it's worth, I was not raised in the faith, but came to Christ as an adult and have been a Christian for roughly 18 years.
If you would like something a bit more personal than some sort of a voting forum feel free to drop me an email and I will correspond with you about whatever you would like to know (as far as I am able...)
Tom

I'm not angry but i think the vast majority whether they believe or not are going to be defensive especially when you ask a question on R&S and you have SO many opinions
