can candy cause hyperactivity in kids? i read somewhere that is doesn't, but my mom says it does. when i eat lots of sugar, nothing happens to me.

Anxiety, hyperactivity can be attributed to sugars most certainly. Kids should be controlled at what they consume, especially soft drinks. The Michigan school system recently took all the soft drink machines out of the schools for this reason, to curb hyperactivity.
The candy machine were next, they left the chip machines and etc.

ABSOLUTELY.
Sugar itself maynot cause the hyperness but sugar(even in its natural forms) can cause irritability of other underlying disorders.
Ask any teacher or parent of a child with ADD, ADHD if they see a difference in a child who has refrained from sugar for a period of time. They report more focus, less hyper, better understanding.
If nothing happens to you that means you, most likely, would not have an underlying condition which would be irritated by the sugar.
