My dashaund had a litter of puppies four months ago, and she is already in heat. I know the average timespan between cycles is six months, but is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Yes, it is normal. If you don't know this, you need to educate yourself a bit more before even considering breeding again! She must not be bred again so soon.

This is normal. It is around six months from her last heat cycle. And the puppies were born 2 months after she started the last cycle.

Yes this is normal. Some dogs have a heat cycle every 6 months and some every 4 to 5 months, but it usually don't occur unless the last litter she produced died and didn't pul her down. You will need to omit breeding her this heat,as too close to last and birth of pups.

The first 2 who responded were exactly right. You count the time between the heat cycles, not the time since the last litter. Heat cycles don't always run every 6 months, they can vary between 5-8 months between cycles. Please give your dog a rest and don't breed her this time.

If the puppies are 4 months old,and the gestation period is two months, then it's been 6 months since her last heat,so it's normal.

I'm pretty sure thats normal but you should call your vet if you're pretty concerned. There is also birth control tablets for dogs that you can ask your vet about.
