it sounds like a very interesting idea, i would just run it by the bridesmaids first to see if they are down with that. also i would do it after the reception so people do not have to walk around all wet or sticky.

Some "trash" dress pictures can be really pretty and if you like the results, you should go for it. However, I think you should wait until after the wedding before trashing any dress. Your bridesmaids might not want to "ruin" their dresses just yet. But after the event, they might really want to do something fun in the dress... even if it means getting the dress wet and having to bring it to the cleaners. Make it a girls day out in the a month or two after the wedding. Go get your hair done and pose for some pictures. It cost more in the long run, but you might be happier. You don't want to be too soggy at the reception.

If you want a beach wedding, have one, but to spend the money not only for your dress but what the bridesmaids have invested only to throw them away seems over the top. Your album will be forever and a wedding isn't a wet bathing suit contest. And depending on your reception location, I'm sure you might need to check with the hotel. They may not care to have an entire wet wedding party back inside at the tables dripping water everywhere. If after all is done and everyone is gone and you want to jump into the pool, have at it.

It is such a neat idea. I actually just saw pictures of sessions tonight. I do agree that maybe you should wait until after the wedding day to do the shoot though. Its a lot to ask your bridesmaids to do that before the reception. Talk it over with the girls and see if they would be willing to do that with you.

Ummm, Save the wet 'pics" for after the wedding day. Do you really want to stand around in your "finery" all wet for the reception? Hair and make-up ruined? Being able to recycle your dress for fun say Halloween or artistic purposes is cool because what else do you do sell it or save it. You can also have the dress altered and dyed and re-purpose it that way. My Mom was a 50's bride and married in "blue velvet" and I was married in navy blue. Both dresses have been used again. Nuf said " Do what makes you happy... Bikinis anyone ?

i'm sorry but you did ask, so i have to be honest about this.
ok, are the girls paying for their own gowns? how expensive are they? what kind of fabric are they? are they repairable after they are soaked by standing in a chlorinated pool? what about their shoes? makeup? and if they are paying for their own gowns, shoes, etc. do you have the right to expect them to 'trash' them just for fun? and after its over and you are all soaking wet, what then? is there time to re-do hair and makeup before the reception? do you expect the wedding party to have a second gown and tux for the reception? are you going to pay for and have you booked rooms at the hotel for your girls and his guys to get dried, dressed and made up again before the reception?
i think you need to rethink this idea, it doesn't sound logical or workable at all, and shows no class in my opinion. it just seems very juvenile.
i think you could have 'fun' shots, without destroying expensive gowns and tuxes, you can have 'tasteful' pool shots as well as 'beautiful' shots, and it will take far less time and expense.
please reconsider.
wishing you a perfect wedding day and a wonderful marriage.

you might can pull it off depending on the photographer and how good they are. Talk with your bridesmaids first and see how they like the idea of getting in the pool.. Anythings possible. If it makes you feel better, I'm having a Barbecue in the park for my reception next year.

I agree you definitely want to check with your bridesmaids, after spending all that time and money getting ready they may not want to "trash" their dresses.
If not you could get in the pool and take pictures with them around the pool and you in it.
Good luck!

Yes! This is super corney!
Sorry, I'm more a traditionaly kind of guy. You can still take fun pictures...but not in the water. Believe me, it will make for some unhappy people.

I just came across some sites on this the other day. Personally, it's not for me. I paid a lot of money for my gown and I want to parade around in it all night! But hey, if that is something that you want to do, then go for it. It's your day!
Here's one of the site's I was looking at.
