Let me get back to you on that!.....To many people this can be a hard teaching to except because they were misled on it's true interpretation early on in the church,..........

Serpent = Hebrew word nachash (naw-khawsh) a snakes hiss, prime root to hiss, whisper a (magic) spell, to practice divination, to observe signs, learn by exsperience, to dilegently observe, to fortune tell.

The SERPENT is no ordinary snake.......Rev 12.9 it refers to Satan as that old SERPENT called the devil SATAN......ok let's go a little deeper here......

TREE= Hebrew word " ets ( ates) a tree (from it's firmness) atsah ( awtsaw); a prime root, properly to fasten ( or make firm) to close the eyes. Figuratively: The spine giving firmness to the body ( The body is the trunk, and the arms and legs are the limbs

Example: Christ is the TREE of life and we that have faith in him, we become the branches........Christ is the TREE of life.

God used the word 'trees symbolically in the scriptures to mean people both good and bad,......Example in the book of Isaiah 61 v.1-3 in short it reads............that they might be called TREES of the righteousness,...the planting of the Lord that he might be glorified.

The Tree of knowledge of good and Evil is Satan, for the first lie in the bible was in the garden when the SERPENT told Eve that if she pertook of this Tree "" etes'''' ( not a fruit tree)...that she would surely not die '''Remember Satan is the father of lies'''' that was his first lie in the bible..........Remember God said they can pertake of the tree's of the Garden except for this Specific tree that has the knowledge of Good and evil,......ask your self this question,.......Was not Satan the most beautiful of all of God's created ANGELS, for he sealed the measure of wisdom.............Read this next verse.........This should seal it for you....I would hope.....

Ezekiel ch 28 13-17 (This will be a condenced read only highlighting parts of verses,....so you might not loose interest) .......

IT READS......VERSE 13.......Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God.....( who is this that is in Eden you might ask???).....every precious stone was thy covering, thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee...in the day that thou wast created.

verse 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and i have set the so; thou wast upon the holy mountain of God......( Yes he was high on that mountain,....for it was a great fall from such heights of heaven)

Verse 15 Thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.......( who might this one be???????)

Verse 16.........I will cast thee to the ground...

Verse 17......Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou has corrupted the wisdom by reason of thy brightness.

Well i think it becomes obvious who was in Eden that suduced Eve.......many mysteries are unfolding in God's word these day.....................I hope you can appreciate this truth for their is much more truth to this story then what has been preached ( taught)in today's Churches,.....this is ok in part because their is no perfect church,... only a righteous church whoes heart is set on him through faith......hoped you liked the mini study.............God Speed brothers and sisters...........May the peace of God continue to do his perfect work in you!!

This is what I believe.

The tree is exactly what it is described as, the knowledge of Good and Evil.

The tree is not "The knowledge of what Good and Evil are".

This is why God did not put clothes on Adam and Eve, clothes are neither good nor evil. Once Adam and Eve took a bite from the fruit (sometimes I say apple, dogma indoctrination. I know we do not know what kind of fruit it was) they knew there was such a thing as Good and Evil. Adam and Eve felt ashamed, as if they might be doing something wrong and they hid their bodies with leaves.

Adam and Even did not know what was right or wrong, they just knew that right and wrong existed after they ate the fruit from the tree.

At least this is what I believe.

When the bible speaks of partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you are reading what is called a metaphor. Knowledge of good and evil is a metaphoric reference to judgment. When you judge something you attempt to determine if it is acceptable or not. In effect you are deciding if it is good or evil from your point of view.

Once we were just like the animals and recognized that everything in the garden that God had given us was good. At some point we started to judge some thing as being better than others are. This set up a situation where something’s were more appealing to us than others. We started wishing for these things and were no longer happy with some of the other things in the garden.

This is what is referred to as the fall of man, or separation from God. Some references actually call this the detour into insanity. This self-induced separation from the knowledge of the perfection of god’s gifts to us was never shared by the animals. They were too smart to fall for this silly idea and were not fooled by the ideas of good and evil. For this reason they exist along side of us still experiencing the perfection of the garden. While we have excluded ourselves with our ideas of judgment. This is a truly fascinating subject that has many interesting facets. Including how to reverse the process and return to the original state. If you feel the need to discuss it further send an email.

Love and blessings.

such a lot of astute and fine observations! Nice query.... magnolia plant life introduced this up the opposite day as good... so I will upload in my possess shadings - the tree, it's symbolic of the microcosm that's us. The snake, it's the kundalini - the sacred Divine sub atomic vigor that is living inside us all, dormant till the person awakens her with "proper" movement and proposal ~*~ She climbs the trunk of our tree, the spinal column, in the direction of the tree tip, the crown. We exist as does the tree, roots grounded within the earth, head inside the heavens... Good and evil, they're an older mind-set - to search to broaden (Eve, or the common suspects) is as Jon advised - without difficulty an expression of the ongoingness of God/One/ the All This divine essential, name it what you'll, exists as One, and had the wish to have mirrored enjoy as many - the numerous overlooked the One, and feature been residing within the sea of Samsara ever when you consider that. Until they don't seem to be. The studies garnered as person feed into the One, fueling enlargement, development, refinement. That is the ongoingness of production. How ever this used to be construed as evil is ago - it's an old-fashioned and restricted mind-set. Up to now, the notion that has been held in location is that the one technique to become aware of, enlighten, have complete expertise, is to supply over the phantasm of the person to as soon as once more be the One. I advocate, as do others, that this can be a notion that can be long past past. Question all dogma, recommends the Buddha....

I think it was a concept. Not that the tree wasn't real, but that God was just drawing a line in the sand - I believe it was arbitrary. He could have said "Thou shalt not cross the line of the knowledge of good and evil" - the point is once they ate the fruit they knew what it meant to decide for themselves what is right and wrong instead of relying on God and trusting and obeying God.

And you can see today all the evil that has resulted from mankind trying to determine for ourselves what we should and shouldn't do...

I think it was an actual tree but nobody knows what happened to it or if it's still on earth somewhere. There was another tree of life too that would have made Adam and Eve immortal if they had eaten from it. I would love to eat from that tree.

True its not the tree but its the person who picked the apple out of the tree so its the person.not the tree.
I'm not all big religious person or anything but I do believe in god. There was an evil snake that told eve to pick the apple out of the tree and she told Adam and he picked it out of the tree. God said not to pick anything out of the tree and they disobeyed him. They listen to the evil snake so they did evil and didn't listen to god who is good. so they choose evil instead of good.
