Some of the best works by this great architect are religious buildings like Ronchamp and La Tauret. Is a contradiction or not?

"Best" is in the eye of the beholder. If you're right about Le Corbusier, (I never knew that), I think it explains a lot about his designs since they don't have the religious symbolism that was traditional for churches.
No big deal, I guess some people just liked their churches being different.

It's a simple, oft repeated, boring ol' fact but an atheist is simply someone who doesn't believe in any gods. A "true" atheist is no different from any other sort of atheist.
I'll go one better in an example: What if the Pope didn't believe in any gods, would he still be a true atheist if he headed the Catholic Church and told everyone that he has faith that God is real? Yep. Atheism is just the lack of belief in any gods. it doesn't even require any public expression of atheism.
Back to your example, Le Corbusier didn't even pretend to believe in religion or gods. He didn't think religion could truly inspire people. He felt religious people were looking for inspiration and architecture could provide it so he gave them what they wanted. That's fine. True, his work might have inspired many to become even more religious, but you don't have to battle to spread atheism in order to be an atheist.
I personally like a lot of religious art and architecture. I enjoy sitting in most churches, at least for a while and preferably when I'm there alone. Enjoying this form of human expression doesn't make me any less of a non-believer.

As an atheist would I care if my house was designed by a christian. No. Of course not. What's your point?
If I were an architect I would love to design a church. As an artist, I would gladly provide artwork for a church... sculptures, stained glass, paintings, etc...

if anything, i would say that atheists who struggle for pure godlessness are not true atheists. naturalists can also be superstitious. but that's just me, i agree with thatguyjoe.
