I too suffer from migraines. What usually cause mine are too much stress, not releasing the stress in some way ( walking, gardening, talking with friends, etc.)
I have to go to bed and sleep it off.
But other causes are too much caffeine, MSG (usually in Chinese food). There can be a whole list of causes.
The friend needs to go to a neurologist and have them find out what is going on.
Good luck.

I told my doctor about it and he told me to sleep whenever I had the urge, I mean if you don't give in to it soon a little headache will happen sooner or later it develops into migraine. So whenever i feel sleepy i sleep it off even a half an hour and voila no more headache.

The doctor told my daughter to make sure she had her caffeine every day. He gave her a script for a caffeine pill to take to be sure she had enough.

Caffeine has an effect on the nerves involved in migraines and tones them down.

Nobody knows what causes migraines. they just theorize about what it is that may be the cause.

maybe your friend should try the aspirin with caffeine in it or the hardback cafe, frozen cappuccino thingies! They have a definite caffeine kick.

Migraines or something more serious like a tumor or aneurysm. Your friend should really see a neurologist right away and have a MRI of the brain done. This could be something minor or very serious and life threatening.

I don't know shat part of the country you live in, but here in Indiana, we've had one thunderstorm after another for the last week or so. Sometimes the change in air pressure will do it, especially when it swings up and down like that.
It also could be an allergy thing.
