If it is indeed ringworm, putting tinactin on it twice a day for a min. of 2-3 weeks should get rid of it. You can get that over the counter for about $15.
I see you said you tried over the counter, perhaps she is allergic to the brand you used? Or maybe she has a staph infection on top of having ringworm? Or perhaps you did not use the product long enough? Ringworm does not go away easily, it can take up to 4 weeks sometimes to clear it.

That is totally ridiculous that it costs so much for medicine for ring worm. Unfortunately I don't know any other cure but, you should probably ask the doctor sooner than later just in case it can get bad or may need even more costly medicine to heal it if it does. They may be able to prescribe something perhaps not quite as highly effective that costs less.

You could go back to the Dr and tell them that you cannot afford what he/she prescribed, sometimes they can give you free samples if they have them, or the Dr might be able to prescribe something that the insurance will approve or something in the price range you can afford, or they might even know of something over the counter you can get. If that doesn't work usually most in most areas you can go to the town office or local Human Services Dept and they offer emergency assistance. Good luck, hope your baby gets well soon!

I'm sorry to hear about your baby. I just wanted to answer cause I got some infection in my eye a year ago and the doc gave me a little ointment that was really expensive and I couldn't afford it either .I asked him if he had another option and he gave me a cheaper option and it made it worse. I had to buy the expensive one and it worked finally, the doc said it was worth the price.

Put in a call to your local health department. If money is the issue they can tell you how and what you might qualify for local and state programs that are geared toward health care for children.
Those programs are paid for by the taxpayers for people like yourself who might be in need of help for their children, so use them.
