According to Monty Python:
Because witches burn they must be made out of wood.
And wood floats when you put it in water.
What also floats is a duck
So if the accused weighs as much as a duck then their made of wood and therefore:
A witch.
Some other mideavel ways of seeing if people were witches were to throw them in water.
If they drowned, they were innocent
If they floated, they were a witch
If they would burn, then they were innocent
If they would not be harmed by fire, they were a witch
Both men and women were targeted for being witches but elderly women who lived outside of town were the first to be accused.
One could be accused for anything from someone getting a cold to a crop dying.

I thought ducks were gods creatures and witches wiccans aren't evil just pagan.
Not many people weight the same as duck unless your a small baby and children are innocent.
So don't really get how you came up with that except some weird superstitious old tale somewhere.

Well if the float after being tied up and thrown in a river, yes! Of course if they sink then they are not. Of course there also dead, but at least they were no witch! :) Wow you got to love the 15 and 16 hundreds.

How much do ducks weigh? Less than 25 pounds?
Are you saying that all toddlers are witches?

Ducks don't weigh that much. A newborn baby would weigh the same as a duck, but would you consider them a witch. People were just plain stupid back in the Salem Witch Hunt days.

no only if they're a better businessman/person than the men accusing them of being witches.
look up reality. nothing to do with their religion rather those women were good businessmen/people, whatever, that's why they drew the charges of being a witch. how else to get rid of the competition? sad and pathetic yes.
