Why is it that Michale Vick is staying in the news over killing dogs, but those who harm children do not stay in the news?
Why is it that people are out for blood {so to speak} over this, change the channel when a child is molested or killed?

Have we put animals above the Human Race?
Now, not in any way do I agree with what he did, but he did not harm any children, but will more than likely serve more time than some child molesters will, what are your thoughts on this issue
Thanks to all who answer and have a Blessed day/night

Sigh. You really have to cherry-pick the evidence to come up with this kind of thing. Show me where people have ignored a major sports star who killed numerous children and raised others in captivity to fight each other.

There's exactly zero evidence here that we have "put animals above the Human Race" or that anyone doesn't care about child abuse.

If you want to see how bad this has gotten, take a look at the source I cited below. Right-wing Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner blocked a bill to help prevent dog fighting.

Vick is a well known person, where as if you or I would do this. We would be tried and convicted without much media coverage. And for those who kill and harm children it is the same way. Unless it makes a big splash on how it was done.

The media is out to make headlines, not to cover things that are needing to be covered. It is the all mightly buck in play.

Vick is only in the news because of his job. If Joe Nobody was convicted of dog fighting, you'd never hear a word about it.

Humans are animals, so it's not about putting "animals above the Human Race." It's about it being wrong to intentionally harm anyone, of any species. Of course, many theists don't see things that way because they don't see themselves as part of nature. Rather, they see themselves as "above" nature.

Fear is fear, and pain is pain, regardless of species.

Gimmie a break... direct me to all the news reports of a children being molested or killed. When a child is simply abducted, entire states issue amber alerts. Please stop inventing inhumanity where it doesn't exist.

It's because of his celebrity status and the fact that most athletes, actors and other high profile people are sometimes used as societal role models whom children wish to be like. Both instances, abuse of children and abuse of animals are heinous crimes.

It's awful to abuse children, but there is something about dog fights and abusing animals that just tears at my heart.

It's because he is a sports figure, i.e, well known.

I think the Vick situation has been blown out of proportion due to his fame.

same reason paris hilton was in the news for forever. because each news place wants a face that will draw people to watch their pathetic news that is irrelevant compared to the real news that they should be telling us
