i consider myself a low scale hypochondriac. its not like i always think i have cancer or anything like that, its just that i constantly worry about getting things like colds and stomach flus. it started 2 yrs ago when i was coughing blood, and i told mysel fi would never get sick again. plus i am a very serious swimmer and even a small cold will affect my training a lot. some things i do now are: take 2 echinacea pills a day, take 2 calcium supplements a day, and take 2 gnc "mega teen " tablets a day (26 vitamins) i am also a germaphobic and use purel like its oxygen! but i still worry a lot about getting sick (yes maily because of swimming and i wont be able to go on a training trip in the winter if im sick) and because i hate feeling like s h i t. so what else can i do to not get acold/flu/virus/anything? i kow most 17 yr olds shouldnt be like this but im not your average 17 yr old.
thanks =)

Doctors recommend a lot of water. Isn't it about a half gallon a day I've heard.They say do the same things they recommend if your sick, plenty of water, rest and keep you hands out of your mouth. Water is so crucial. It washes the germs out of the immune system and bladder, then you can fight off the rest. Meanwhile your immune system has time to produce the, well, immunity. The immune system is ready so when the germs make a comeback, it they ever do, zap. Of course don't kiss kids, they haven't learned hygiene yet.
For mental health drop judgmental and negative words, germs of the mind, and use descriptive words, words of science. And emotions are stronger that reason so study emotional intelligence. I have to warn you though it's powerful and deceptively tame. It's used in the home, school, business and oh yes, sports.
See, life isn't so difficult.
