i have spanish homework and this section is true or false. mercedes is a person but the story says nothing about Toledo. HELP please! best answer for the first person to answer correctly! gracias!

Mercedes is from Toledo.

There are several meanings.
One of them is that is that the name before "es de" could be a person married with a man after "es de"..
For example, in this case it could mean that Mercedes is married with a man that has "Toledo" as a surname.
Something like "Mercedes belongs to Toledo" xD (yes, a little strange, but..)

It can also mean the place where Mercedes is from.
If Toledo is a place, it means that Mercedes is from Toledo, the city, town, whatever.

Mercedes is from Toledo. So look through your story and look for the sentence that says where she was born or where she lives, so it may be "Mercedes es de _____..." or it may even be worded "Mercedes vive en _____...". If you don't see Toledo behind it, then it is obviously false.
