about how much does a doctor needs to know, if they are in a hospital?

well i may want to become a doctor but about how much does a doctor needs to know, well i have A.D.D (attention deficit disorder) and i can also easy forget things too, does anyone think i can last as a doctor? be honest i can handle the truth

It depends on how well you can compensate for your condition.

Lives depend on doctors having excellent judgement, memory and skills. If your ADD interferes with that, then you should probably look for another profession. If you can overcome the challenges presented by the condition, then you should be able to do the job.

My son has ADD and a learning disability, along with a very high IQ. He graduated with an honors degree from a good university a few years ago, and is doing quite well for himself (he's not even remotely interested in medicine, though). He has learned ways of coping with his particular issues.

By the way, to quote one of my medical school professors, "You need to know everything."

You'll find your place, whether that's as a doctor or something else.

Well, it's like an episode of ER that I saw several years ago where Don Cheadle guest starred. He had Parkinson's Disease, causing tremors. The big question was, should he be allowed to be a doctor with the tremors?

I would say no problem, except if he is doing something that requires a steady hand. So, sure, go be a doctor, but only if you can pass the courses. If you can't pay attention long enough to learn the information, you won't make it through medical school anyway, and you can find something else to do.

Helen Keller was a great person, but she shouldn't ever direct traffic.
