This is a lie taught by the Christian religion in order to make their replacement theology appealing, and to make sure that anyone who hears it looks back at Judaism and goes "ewwwwww", no thanks I think I'd rather be under "grace" than "law". Which is itself another total lie, based upon yet ANOTHER lie that Jews seek salvation through works, by the law. Jews do no such thing, Jews don't even HAVE such a concept of "seeking salvation", nor original sin, or anything like it.
It's completely inaccurate - on purpose. And guess what, it worked! Most Christians actually believe this crap.

God's mercy is all over the OT- if you just look- Look at the account of the EXODUS - many, many times the Israelites rebelled against God in the wilderness- and God showed His righteous anger- yes, however look again throughout Exodus- How many times did His chosen people rebel and then how many times did God show forth His mercy? Over and Over. The book of Hosea shows His mercy to a nation who was rebellious. The book of Lamentations- right in the middle- shows His mercy and faithfulness to Jeremiah, and the Israelites. Many, more places, I would not have time to list them all. Jesus got righteously anger many times, however His purpose was to come and show the love and mercy of God, for dying for the sins of the world. The justice of God is all over scripture OT and NT. However, the cross is where justice and mercy meets. Does that help?

Please read the OT and know the real God of the Bible...
God is and forever tender-hearted, merciful, patient and compassionate Father.
He sends prophets rising early in the morning to warn His sottish children. His Spirit is so vex when people deliberately and purposely sins. They experienced the Glory of the LORD, His miracles and their war victories but still opted to worship idols.
His dealings with mankind never change, He is unchangeable.
Jeremiah 2:13
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God only seems meaner because he is trying to get man to stay on the path to heaven in the old testiment. God shows his people and others an array of incredible mirricles and fight on their behalf over and over again but man continue to turn from god so god shows man some consiquences for their actions but he always takes them back under his wing but again man kept turning away. So god sent his son Jesus an extention of himself to show his final mercy to all peoples not just jews. Jesus shows gods mercy to us all by living a sinless life and dieing on the cross so that mans shortcomings can be forgiven through his sacrifice one and for all. But the time is coming where even that amazing gift will be stripped away from those who dont accept it willingly. Then you will see the wrath of god like nothing in the old testiment.

In the early days of Christianity, before the New Testament sort of 'standardized' Christian belief, there were many different factions of Christians who believed a wide variety of things. One group believed that the god of the OT and of the NT were different Gods. The OT God was all about jealousy and anger and punishment, the NT God was all about love and forgiveness!
But a lot of Christians these days see God as angry and jealous even today! They think that he hates people who don't believe as -they- do and will punish them in eternity!
Jesus taught love and forgiveness and reconciliation. But you know how some people are. They just see what they want to see. 8^<

actually. God forgives and shows His greatness and mercy throughout the old testament. He also kills people in the New Testament as well (read Acts 5).
Same God, he doesn't really change very much.

The old guy wasn't bringing in the believers or donations so he was reinvented to be a more appealing cool guy in the New Testament. It worked. More followers = more donations.

Those writing the new testament were on a recruiting mission. They decided to copy a different set of texts to help in their efforts.

You mean like when Jesus said, "I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds." Rev 2:22,23

Exd 33:18 And he Moses said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
Exd 33:19 And Yahweh said, I will make all my righteousness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before thee; and will be compassionate to whom I will be compassionate, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
Exd 34:6 And Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, Yahweh, Yahweh Almighty, merciful and compassionate, long suffering, and abundant in righteousness and truth,
Exd 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means acquitting the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
That is what the name Yahweh represents.
That doesn't sound mean to me.
Satan wants you to think that when you break Yahweh's Laws and bring a curse upon yourself that Yahweh did it.
Satan wants you to fear, your loving heavenly Father, we are to give him reverence not fear. for the fearfull shall see the lake of fire (Rev 21:8).
Satan is the mean one who inspired the scriptures to project Yahweh as some mean vengefully being and it just isn't so.
Yahshua became in the image of Yahweh, so basically the attributes that you read earlier about Yahweh that is what Yahshua learned to become like.
