I am getting married in 4 weeks and I need to figure out songs for the ceremony and a mother/son dance. I dont want anything traditional in my wedding and we are even doing the sand ceremony also. However, I am not having a dj doing the ceremony, just an organist. Does anyone have any songs in mind or even the piano renditions or popular songs? I want it to be romantic yet different and with more popular songs. I need songs for the prelude, processional, sand ceremony and recessional. can anyone please help me? I am very stressed out over this and the minister wants me to finish my programs this week!! And then my fiance and I are having a hard time figuring out a song for his mother/son dance. what makes it so hard though too is he is adopted and his adopted mom raised him, however, his biological mom is also coming, how do we work that and without hurting anyone's feelings? So we need a song for that too. Please help.

the sand ceremony is when the bride has one color of sand and then the groom has another color of sand and then one pours part of their sand in a glass jar and then the other pours part of theirs and then they pour the remainder of theirs together to symbolize them becoming one. it's a nice unity thing and something different. thanks for the response though.

It would help if we knew what type of ceremony you are having. If you are getting married in a church, usually you can't just pick any music. It would need to be Hymns, classical or Christian music.

Since you are having an organist, you need to call him right away and find out what he reccomends for your usic. Because if you pick something he can not play it will be useless. I know you don't want traditional so if you explain that you are looking for something unique I am sure he can help.

Here are a few links that may help you find a mtoher/son song. There are alao ceremony music suggestions.
A good suggestion may be to have him dance halfway through with one mom and have the other mom "cut in".

When I saw the term "nothing traditional"...the song that came to mind is the theme to the old tv show "Twin Peaks"...it's a good song, really, not eerie or anything...and just "avant guarde" enough to be trendy.
What about the Carpenters' "Superstar" as just an organ solo? GREAT song...it flows !!!
Another good song might be "You'll Be In My Heart" (from the animated movie "Tarzan").

Congrats on your wedding...but I have one little question...what's a "sand ceremony"?

Jim Brickman's music is amazing. We used his song "Angel Eyes" for the processional. It's piano music and you can buy the music book at a music store.
