I am a 32 year old diabetic female. People are suggesting I should have some bloodwork done since my pancreas is failing along with my kidneys. I also have some nueropathy and I had some angina about a month and a half ago. I was just wondering because this one person suggested it so I thought I would ask my doc some questions. What should I be prepared to ask my doc? Thanks for any input.

Well, you should (if you haven't already) get your HbA1c (to check your diabetic control. You should get a Chem-7 (esp Creatinine level and microalbumin/Cr ratio) to check on your kidneys. Blood work wont show anything about angina and neuropathy.
Ask your doctor about renal protective medications in diabetic patients. Diet, exercise, and drugs (pills or insulin) could be an option for you.
I don't know your history, but those are the things I would ask.
Good luck!
