Oh my! I am a Southerner and I always have been. I was educated here as well.

Now, considering that you found this one "tidbit" ....if you are college degreed, then you know this holds NO weight at all! You did not present all the facts and I am suppose to believe that I am stupid because of where I was born? Are you kidding me? Do you actually believe that? If so, please get better educated, for your own sake!

As for reading religious books, yes, I do; however, I also write "religious" plays too! Oh, and religious Bible studies. Wow! It only makes me appreciate that diploma I hold from college. Just a little more information for your closed mind, my IQ is probably higher than yours! FACT! I graduated at the top of my class. All this and I love my Southern roots and heritage.

I do hope you open your mind and allow yourself to grow in truth and knowledge!

I am not a southerner but on average I attend church 4 times a week. I also read at least 2-3 books a week. These books cover a wide range of topics. I have 4 book cases filled with hundreds of books in my bedroom. Less educated does not work either as I have a bachelor's and master's degree. I am currently working on a PhD.

Edit: realized I typed 203 books a week not 2-3. d'oh

Ok Mr. Let's Make Generalizations, your question reads "Do Southerners ever read books"
No matter how my blood is boiling right now I will simply answer your question calmly. Right now there is at least one book in each room of my house. I have a whole foyer room with a wall full. I do read some fiction but at the same time I am reading a little jewel called Freakanomics. Funny it explains why people tend to make generalizations about whole groups. When I finish it I might just get back to you if I decide it is worth my time.

I'm pretty sure William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, Mark Twain, Harper Lee and Flannery O'Conner were all avid readers as well as brilliant writers.

Yes, southern people read books, and write them as well.
