why is this?

why is it that atheists are so put down all the time? is it wrong to know your history? i know what all of you religious people are going to say, 'you don't know your history, we do! jesus died for our sins! it says so in the BIBLE!!....' but the thing is, we as atheists look for living proof of history, religious people just look to the bible. why won't any religious people give us a chance? we research and devote our time to looking at what's REAL, and we just get bashed for that saying we have no 'faith'? and recently i looked at a website (i forget the name), but there was a poll of who would you most likely vote president, and blacks, gays, women, and even mentally disabled people came before atheists! how wrong is this? just because we're atheist doesn't mean we're more, or less, of a person than religious people are! so please stop bashing us like we don't know anything when, 7 times out 10, we do more research than most religious people do.

Did you research the ratio "7 times out of 10" or did the number just pop into your head? Where are the facts to back up this alleged empirical precision?

No one says atheists are less of a person than anyone else. It's just that they've got nowhere to go when they die, and they don't like what Christians have to say about what the Bible and the Church teaches about that. God loves atheists too, and wants to save them as well, if they'll only listen to His word. But He gave us all free will and won't force you do anything you don't want to do.

You can't see atoms, but you can see the light of the sun which is allegedly, according to theory, driven by the power of theorised atoms. You can't see God either, but you can see His works in the power of the universe which He created. His Word is light and eternal life.

Hon, remember this, NOBODY can "put you down" unless you allow your mind to react in that way. I am totally confident about who I am and what I believe... or in this case what I do NOT believe. It's not up for debate with anybody else. I am who I am, and I think the way I think and if the other person doesn't like it he can tell me all day long that I am "going to burn in a fiery pit for all eternity" and guess what! I won't even break a fingernail over it LOL, never mind break a sweat.

The overwhelming majority of "believers" in that Mysterious Invisible Superbeing called "God" don't go around bad-mouthing atheists. That is only done by a comparative few wacky religious fanatics. they make themselves seem more numerous than they really are because, like all empty tin cans, they make way the most noise.

Atheists tend to have way better questions than other folks! I do notice, however, that there is a tendency for many atheists to hold people with faith in any particular religion (especially Christianity), with a certain degree of contempt or outright hatred...judging by some of the statements and comments I read. And judging by some of the inane questions I see aimed at atheists by so-called Christians, you could draw the same conclusion about them as well...but that doesn't reflect proper Christian attitude towards non-believers. Just know that salsa shark bids you well.

To say that you do more research then a Christian would is silly. As I enjoy research, something that is a past time for me. And I consider myself a very strong Christian.

Now, about the bashing thing. I feel the same thing when "atheist" bash me for my belief. ( using the Dr. Evil hand quotes) It never feels good when people put others down. Sorry that happened to you here, it seems like it is a spreading disease.

Well I believe the reason that I do not like atheists is not because they know history, in fact I believe that most of the Bible is wrong, but the reason is that atheists no not believe in God. I do not understand why is it so hard to believe in God and look for the truth.

That many people find atheists obnoxious is known; as to why,look at your "question". It isn't even a question,it's a statement,actually a diatribe. It is filled with arrogant and unsupported claims such as the idea that atheists know more ("do more research") of religion than religious people do. Most self-described atheists are unfamiliar with any form of religion other than fundamentalist Christianity and their sole source of "research" is a handful of cheesy atheist websites.

god, or the spirit, or the universal power, or whatever you want to call what causes the wonders that occur from the cosmos to the tiniest cells, is working in atheists too. Look wherever you want. Everything living is carbon based, which means even if we don't like the idea of it, we are all one. Don't try so hard to be atheist, exactly like you are telling religious people to not try so hard in their beliefs. The universe flows. Flow with it.

The people on this site are ridiculous. I agree with you, and i'm not atheist. I'm not the most religious gal in the world either though. I got respect for you, and for the people who don't...give em' the one finger salute and be on your way. Atheists that I have met, have a more logical and intelligent way of thinking. There is no problem with that.
