Depends on the vehicle. A Dodge truck takes about 12 quarts, a Ford Super-Duty takes around 15 quarts, and as such will cost quite a bit more than a normal car which usually take 3.5 - 6 quarts. Smaller cars with diesels, like Mercedes and VWs, cost about the same as any other car. There are gasoline cars that take a lot of oil as well. Caddilacs with the Northstar V8 take 7-8 quarts, and there are some Mercedes SUVs that take as much as 10 quarts.

Hope this helps and good luck!

If you live in the desert then you will have to do desert maintenance.I own a ford now and it takes 15.5 quarts plus a 10.00 oil filter.I used to own a dodge and I don't remember ever paying less than ten dollars for a factory or fleet guard filter.I buy my oil at sams club six gallons of shell rotella t for about 50.00.A car oil change costs 15.00 or twenty and don't forget the added cost of changing your twenty dollar plus fuel filter every ten thousand miles also.
