they cant really do anything right now about that.. it is caused by the signal from the satellite being interrupted, seems like as much as they charge for that ..... they could figure out something

Sky has always had that ;problem. but some conditions can make it worse. For example a tree may not be direct line with dish, but when the wind blows it keeps moving across it. I had that once.
A better dish alignment can also help. I'd get someone in to come and have a look. I did manage to get mine improved but since they went digital, it really is bad.
There are probs with freeview as well but they keep saying that once analogue stops then the signal will be stronger, and people are believing them. They are forcing digital on us and it has this intrinsic problem, it does not like adverse weather conditions.

It is the weather affceting the signal, ours used to do it and break up and make these randon cracking noises. We have since changed to cable and the weather does not affect it at all. Not sure if moving the sky dish would make a difference. Other than that i dont know what can be done- we just put up with it and found turning the set off and back on stopped it on each occasion.

It sholdn't.
take these steps.
if u are useless on a ladder get someone who is usefull
get up to the dish...take the front cap of the LNB. thats the part with the wire coming out of it
make sure its dry inside the funnel
put the cap back on making sure its water tight..use silicon if nessessary.
also wrap some duck tape around where the screw plug is thats at the end of the cable attached to the LNB.
In other words make sure no water is gettin in anywhere
also make sure that the dish is not facing trees or buildings etc.

guys 99% of the issue is due to poor dish alignment!
5mm out down here is miles out up there in space..
i moved recently and put my dish up at my new place and everytime it clouded over never mind rained my picture went nuts and the sound was breaking up.. and before i moved the only time i ever had a problem was if it was snowing or really heavy rain..
anyway after thinking it was becourse i had moved to the middle of knowhere i was at the point of getting a larger dish..
until i see this post and read all the answers..
not wanting to miss the motogp i ventured outside in the rain and changed the angle of my dish it is hoofing it down with rain as i type this and its fine not glitched once in the last 4 hours since moving the dish only very slightly....
even half of these sat dish fitter just slap them up and bugger off and low and behold along comes the rain and off goes your sky..
heres a tip..
never your mind your fancy sat detectors.. stick a small tv on a chair under your dish use the built in signal metre on your skybox until its as good as you can possibly get and bingo as long as your dish has a clear line of sight so to speak into space your all good.

That is the one thing that the sales people for satellite service never mention. It is unavoidable and very annoying. That signal is coming tens of thousands of miles and is not very strong by the time it passes through your local rainstorm or snow storm.
Try to tweak your dish position for the strongest possible signal and hope for a drought.
