My 15 y/o comes home today and needs PowerPoint for a homework assignment in English. Can't afford the $100 or so for MS Word. Is it possible to just purchase the PowerPoint program? And if so, where for the best deal. Thanks!

Yes, you can buy PowerPoint by itself, but it's probably going to cost you about $100 - maybe more, depending on where you get it. It's Microsoft Office that's the "package" deal that includes Word and PowerPoint, depending on which version you buy.

Your best bet is Amazon - they've got the Home and Student version of Office on sale for $109.99 - it's about $150 most other places. It includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus OneNote. It's for non-commercial use only, but student use would definitely qualify.

You'd be lucky to find PowerPoint alone for that price, so it's a good deal.

Go to the website below and download openoffice.org suite. It has a word processor, spreadsheet (like excel), and slideshow (like powerpoint).

It's free, and it has tons of features. I recommend it
