Something that is specific to only San Diego...

2007-08-21 10:58:51 · 9 answers · asked by Anonymous in Politics & Government Military

Edit: I'm already in training in the Navy as a NUC and my brother wants to join but only if he can get stationed in San Diego. I know there are only so many bases with aircraft carriers with San Diego being the least likely place to be stationed and that was my only suggestion to be in an aviation field or a NUC if he qualifies. Other than that, I couldn't find any rate that is specific to San Diego.

There only 3 places in the States that are home ports to Carriers. Norfolk, Va on the east coast, Everett,WA and of course San Diego so the chances of getting SD are fair. As far as what jobs look depends on what he is looking to get into. Carries have 3 major departments: Air, Reactor, Engineering, Before he gets hung up on being stationed only in certain place you guys should look into brother duty. He may want to be more flexible as you know the navy will as fill its need 1st. try looking into the bother option and go from there. as only jobs that are in San Dog kinda hard to say because the fleet is pretty evenly spread out as far as manning goes. Good Luck.

NONE. he will go where he is sent, period. there are no ratings that are ONLY found in San Diego. in fact any rating that is found in San Diego can also be found in Norfolk, Mayport and Yokosuka Japan.

Absolutely nothing! Chances are better and better that you'll end up in Iraq. Don't believe the hype, the Navy has thousands of people over there. (Look up "individual augmentee" on google)

anything you get trained for is basicly fleet wide.......

umm .....the military does not work that way..........espcially requesting assignments, they give you a "dream sheet" in boot camp of where you would LIKE to go,

but there is this little thing of sea duty/shore duty rotation
