Not much you can do beyond this point ... frozen sorbert or anything really cold will help ... anything hot or sucked through a straw is likely to loosen the blood-clot or cause a dry socket (bad news) ... don't eat anything hard ... go to sleep as soon as possible to avoid dealing with it - that's what i did as a child getting my baby teeth pulled ... and then my wisdom teeth when i was 18 ...

You can place oil of cloves or orajel on it to reduce the pain. If it continues to hurt you should return to the dentist, you may have a dry socket, which would need to be treated. Also take a pain reliever such as Motrin every 2-4 hours. I hope you feel better, toothaches are the worse!

When taking over-the-counter medicine for oral pain, stick to Ibuprofen or Naproxen (Aleve, Advil, etc.). Other medicines such as Aspriin or Tylenol tend to be less effective and can actually cause increased bleeding. If OTC medications aren't effective, contact your dentist or oral surgeon for a prescription.

Contact your dentist immediately. You could have a dry socket and need further treatment. Over the counter pain medication does not usually work well for complications from extractions.

Aspirin may work better. Did they give you a prescription for pain meds? They've always given me a scrpt for something stronger. You may need to call your dentist if they didn't and ask if they will prescribe something.
