Sin means "self rule". It is disobedience of God's law, including the Commandments, and is simply choosing to do wrong over what is right. We all sin even unknowingly sometimes.

Disobedience of MY laws is how I define a sin. Of course I'm the only one who really knows what my laws are huh? But I don't seem to have much problem figuring out good from bad, right from wrong. Simple really and no god or written law or any number of commandments had to tell me what those sins are. In my mind, I'm judge and jury and if necessary, executioner. Don't like it? Nothing for you to worry about then because I'll not let you very near me or my family anyway.

Disobedience - right! Anything that goes against God and His will. Not just the 10 commandments. If you are saved and have the Holy Spirit - you will know what sin is. The Holy Spirit will reveal it to you. But listen - we all sin - it is inevitable that we sin - we were born sinners. Christ died for us - for our sins. He made a way for us to have eternal life. I pray you find Truth - Jesus Christ. Blessings dear one.

The people of this world are filled with self-ish-ness, disobedience and rebellion against God (sin). Sin is our nature. We are born with the sin nature because of Adam and Eve's disobedience to God. This nature causes us to be sinners. Sin is any act or thought that hurts us or other people. The way that you know what sin is comes from listening to what Jesus has taught us. He tells us to love God with all of our heart, mind and soul. And to love others as ourselves.
We all have this sin nature and we all sin. Except for Jesus. Jesus is God's answer to mankind for the forgiveness of our sins because Jesus is perfect and without sin. He died on the cross, in our place, to take the place of our sin nature and our sins.
Acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and our Savior, is what God requires for our forgiveness. a personal relationship and to give us the free gift of eternal life and salvation through Jesus.

A transgression is the disobedience of God's law. Sins are the transgression of the law. So sinning is the act of transgressing the law of God. Transgressions are named in the bible, to transgress an act is to sin. (I John 3:4). So to sin is the actual act of transgression.

Sin is disobedience to God. Period.
It can mean breaking one of the commandments, of course, but isn't limited to that. It can be not doing something the Lord has instructed you to do, not tithing, and it can be as individual as we are, depending on our circumstances. God doesn't ask us all to do the same things.

It means literally "falling short of perfection". We all fall short of God's standards of perfection since all perfection is relative.
By this It means what is perfect for one situation or condition is imperfect under others. Example: You have someone do a job and you say it is perfect. Then your boss comes along with higher standards and says it needs additional work.

S.I.N. is an acronym of three words.
(S)pirit - God (God is Spirit)
(I)nverse - Opposite in order, nature, or effect
(N)ature - The inherent character or basic constitution of a person or thing.
God is Spirit and created all things from Himself. Anything that exists that is the inverse (or the opposite) of God's nature is SIN.
