doesn't god realize he'd probably have a lot more people worshipping him if he didn't threaten them into liking him with eternal damnation?

Well since the creature, that is the object of veneration by so many religions, probably doesn’t exist, the question should be rephrased. It isn’t a highly improbable God that threatens eternal perdition for those who don’t worship him, it is the charlatans that pretend to speak in his name that levy this form of intimidation on others.

Now do these pretenders, who claim to know the will of a supposed infinite God, really think that spewing out ultimatums concerning believing in their faith, will really bring people into their fold? I think they sincerely do, because what they are doing is practicing a form of projection.

Many of these pious individuals remain in their particular faith, out of unsubstantiated fear in a possible afterlife in the depths of hell. So, they automatically assume that this would be a good motivation for others, not realizing that sensible and moral people don’t adhere to the bizarre metaphysical world they do.

Well, at the very least, don't the Christians realize they would get a lot of converts if they dropped the whole idea that you can burn in hell for eternity for (a) a minor infraction of the rules or (b) not believing what you were supposed to believe, using "faith" instead of reason to arrive at that belief.

Never did understand about "faith," which seems to be not simply belief in the absence of evidence, but belief in the face of contradictory evidence! I simply cannot do that. My upbringing as a philosophy major in college won't allow me.

i think of this own decision. in my view i think of we meet God. some human beings think of they grow to be God in some religions or an equivalent to. i comprehend that I comprehend God is there and that i'm able to sense His presence. As for invention, some say we invented faith to describe what we couldnt. A timeless question, without an answer till the top of time.

God doesn't need everyone to worship Him. We worship Him because He is good and the only one worthy of it. We worship Him out of love and gratitude. We worship Him out of loyalty and adoration. Not because of fear. True I fear letting Him down, just as a child fears disappointing his parents. God makes the rules and we must follow them. Simple as that. And yes it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. If you are not His child, you are His enemy and that is not a good thing. We all need reconcilation to God through Jesus. It is a blessing.

I guess he doesn't realize that, since every theistic religion I know says that God sentences naughty people to hell.

I guess God also doesn't realize that he'd more followers if he just made himself readily apparent and observable instead of asking people to rely on faith.

He'd have a crapload more people worshiping him if he'd simply appear and prove his existence. Of course, that would take all the fun out of the mind-game the theists are addicted to.

That's assuming there is a God.Which I don't do.The vengeful parts of God were invented to put just enough fear into people to believe out of that fear.Something I am not falling for.

Actually, everyone who believes his threats does worship him. The only ones who don't are those of us who don't believe God exists in the first place.

His offer is friendly when you think of it in the eternal point. Why would hell be anyone's choice anyway?

God doesn't threaten anybody. He gives you the chance to be saved. YOU'RE the one making the choice, not God.
