before you go on rambeling about how i shouldnt do such a thing, stop and just trust my judgement please. im not an over dramatic teenager, and im not claming to be abused. life is just unfair and thats all im saying. but im 16 and need to know if i can move out or not. i know people who have done it and tell me that i should but the school says im not old enough to move out yet, not even old enough to pick what parent to live with. i cant be imancipated [sp] cause i live in new york but i do want to move out, maybe with a friend or sumthing.
thank you.

Legally you would be a runaway but i am sure that someone as mature and sophisticated as you appear to be can find a way to get around the whole legal hiccup./

you do need to think this 1 through!

i moved out when i was 16 and ended up in hostel for teenagers, and it was hard work and i felt very much alone.

it always seems like the grass is greener on the other side but its not always the case.

it is hard to get house of your own, not sure how it works in ny?

but it was hard for me ( i live in london).
i am now alot older and i have sorted myself out but it has been along road of hardship.

i have been in hostels and bb and i rented for a long time, it took me 6 years to get a council house and god knows how long it will be b4 i own my house, when your young and trying to survive its hard to study and get a good job.

but good luck what ever you decide

i understand what you are saying, but i think you should wait and think it through, at least wait until ur a little older, you have to remember that things will be a lot harder when your on your own, there will be no one to help you but yourself, so if you think your ready for that kind of challenge then go for it, and one thing i would advise to keep in mind, are you really making enough money to keep supporting yourself when your on your own, something you could probably do to start off yourself is save up a bit, good luck!

move out when you're about to start college. eighteen is when you officially turn into a "pre-adult". that means that you can take care of yourself, and are responsible for all of your actions. sixteen means you're in high school (and i don't mean to be all parenty or paranoid or whatever). that is still a young age... stay with your parent(s). talk to them to see what they think. i personally think that you should move out the summer after you turn seventeen... good luck
