I just joined Bally today, 1 year platinum membership for $ 35/month. I am going to have my personal work out on Thursday. Thinking about losing 30 pounds in 3 months. Will that be possible? Also, I heard so many negative things about Bally, what do I need to know?

from my experience and education...

Keep a journal of everything you eat...youll find out which foods are keeping you from your goals...load up on fruits and veggies...

no cheese, no meat...

whey protein is more efficient because all the amino acids are present...red meat and chicken do not posess all 20 required for metabolism...basic bio chemistry...

drink non-fat milk [that is more efficient than why in terms of metabolism...egg whites are useless since most of the amino acids are in the yolk...but then so is the cholesterol....

drink water [1 gal a day] like a fish...do weights before cardio...sleep 6- 8 hours...dont work out at least one day a week...

personal trainers are a waste of money...go to any fitness website for a solid routine....dont worrry about the wieght you move...form over everything else...

discipline is the womb of success...best of luck

I thinking losing that amount of weight in 3 months is very possible. I'm also a Ballys member, and I don't think they're bad at all. They're friendly and supporting and the classes are always fun. But the thing is, when I had a personal trainer (I had a session free), he started me off like I worked out regularly. I won't lie, it was a bit brutal for the first time. It wasn't so bad, but still. In my opinion it was too much for the first time. It depends on you though.

i never belonged to ballys, so i dont know what their program entails.. 35 a month is the going rate for gyms these days. 30 lbs in 3 months is going to be a tough goal, but i think you will be close if you dedicate yourself to it. as far as the personal training thing goes, the first coupl etimes you go, your trainer will familiarize you with the equipment, and set you up on a very basic training program that most people get put on.. its nothing too complicated but as a beginner, it will yield results for you.. i dont know what your diet is like, but if you go to the gym 4 days a week, and clean up your diet a bit, you should get results.. the key is consistency.. if you keep going and work hard, you should be fine.. as for the things you heard about the club.. go there, work out, and form your own opinion.

It's possible, but depends on your current weight (the more overweight a person is, the more they tend to lose quickly, especiallly in the beginning). If you are relatively fit now, you may find it hard- esp since muscle weighs more than fat- so you could lose fat and gain muscle, and the scale could go up, not down, but you'd actually be fitter.
