Why is the fact that Muslims don't eat pork such a big deal for some poeople?? I don't get it, some sects of Judaism don't eat pork and just look at vegetarians, they don't eat any meat at all!!

Oh yeah, believe me, I have seen it so often, some people taunt Muslims becasue they don't eat pork.

Hey sis, hope your doing well.
I don't think they care that we're not allowed to eat pork. BUT tie in the fact that it's religion that prohibits it, and also tie in recent activity and opinions about Muslims, and you have the perfect recipe to annoy people about trivial things. I think people do it simply because it's just one more thing they can act a bit ignorant about. Not everyone does it, but some people who do... don't know enough about anything.
Christians were in the old testament prohibited from eating it too, and Jews of any sect can't eat pork, or anything that is made from the exterior meat of the animal.. nothing with bi-products basically.
All religions have their rules and regulation.. people with nothing better to do choose to use their time to taunt anyone.
Ignore them, I don't see how anyones diet is a concern to them.

I don't eat pork or shellfish and I am neither muslim nor jew. When I was in Iraq you would have thought I was Al-queda. Here I was supporting the troops and people were questioning me because of my food preferences. And they wouldn't label the pork products so the Muslims working in the compound didn't know the food wasn't Halal.
Bush is an Idiot. (has nothing to do with the question, just thought I'd thow that in.
What roadrat may not know is that they sometimes serve beef bacon although I'm sure he always got pork;) And if you go to Thailand they serve beef but the people in the north don't eat it.

Simple, if you can deny the creation of all things by an all powerful, all knowing, all present individual creator, then you can deny every thing else that a beliefe system based on such an individual Holy God would be. The peoblem with evolution is this and has always been my question ever since I was taught it, why is it that there are no mor primates becomming proto-humans, and eventually homo-sapeians (spelling sorry) You see it is my understanding that evolution is an ongoing process and if that is correct then, there should be new life forms comming out of the ocean today, being able to survive in this toxic waste land that we are creating. New mamals able to drink tainted water, new proto humans evolving from primates able to breath in a poluted enviroment. Science can;t have it both ways, They cant have a 50 billion year old earth with evolutionary process comming to a dead hault in the last 10K years. This is why they are frantically searching for the missing link, and for example the hoaxes that have been out over on humanity as evolution (what nebraska man was fashioned out of a single tooh and turned out to actually be a 20th century pigs tooth). Or why is it that many scientists are now turning to the creationists view point, and it is so underpublisized, that science is loosing it's appeal, and creation and intelegent design camps are growing more popular among th scientific community? I can tell you in a nut shell. When you ad God into the equasion of science, then you do have to do away with same sex arguments. Homosexuality and human cloning have to go out the window in the face of the natural order of God, in that "God created man, male and female created He them". This kind of thinking the kind of thinking (that God is the creator) is that which has shaped America for approximately 150 to 170 years. It is being pushed asside for a sexual trist and an ungodly experiment, in an attempt to become god, and actually blow evolution out of the water. Create a life by genetic manipulation, and have an unending supply of disposeable souless people created for works and deeds of the flesh. That's what the argument is all about, in my opinion. Beter to trust in God, and His plan for salvation of humanity to His Kingdom thru Christ.

I agree with you why is it such a big deal to others?
I personally Think it's because they don't know why?
So here's why:
Pigs(swine) are unclen,they eat anything,they are known to carry germs and diseases,the consumption of pork products are unhealthy, unhygienic,impure,and in addition to being prohibited in the Quran!

Pork was introduced by Chinese to the European Christians who originally believed that Jesus casts the pigs and they refrained from eating. Originally, Jewish did not eat fats from Beef. Pork contains spiral like worms called trichinosis that builds colonies in the muscles and it could not be killed easily.

I thought that it was the other way around. I see (some) Muslims on Y!A slam Christians because we DO eat pork, but I've never seen any Christian poke fun of Jews or Muslims because they do not -- unless I missed something.

Probably because they grow up with books of the three little pigs and they make them look so cute and pink.
Or maybe they work for the pork council. ;)
I mean, come on now, they have all those crazy commercials on tv calling it the 'other white meat'.
They want to show it can be healthy but they don't get that we don't eat it because God told us NOT to.

Great question!!! I wonder the same things too. I dont eat meat and I'm a Christian though i went vegetarian for health reasons. My boyfriend doesnt eat meat for spiritual reasons so.....

I've met Christian people who don't eat any form of pig either for health reasons..
and alot of people are just idiots, like theyre eyes look like their about to pop out when they say "You've never eaten Bacon!!"
i just give a disgusted look and say "you have??"

Simply because some people don't accept any action from Muslims even if they would accept the very same actions from any other people than Muslims.
