Yes it is true, but unfertilised eggs will not develope, so there's no problem there. If your bird does happen to lay, then leave the egg in the cage until your bird looses interest in it completely, then remove and discard it. If you remove it too soon, she may continue to lay which could be harmful to her health...

It is true that a female parakeet can lay eggs without a male. But there is nothing for you to worry about getting babies. The eggs she drops are infertile,, meaning an embrio never formed, just the femails egg is in the yolk of the egg. This is because there was to male around to court her. Now if there is a male, then you should seperate the two birds for precautionary reasons. Although, most parakeets won't lay and incubate eggs unless there is a nest placed in the housing area. You don't need to be worried unless your bird begins to lay eggs on a daily basis. This is very hard on their uterus and can end in death. However if she does begin laying eggs every day you can take her to your vet and they will most likely give her a hormone shot. I hope this helped. I have 9 parakeets so if you have further questions email me or something. Truely ♥вяє♥

All female/hens can lay egg's without breeding is true.
However these egg's won't be fertile/won't hatch/no chicks.
Also you should know that some times the female bird with egg's become egg bound and can't lay/expell the egg's.
This is a life & death situation that needs a good vet ASAP.
When this happens the birds becomes less active, eats less or stops eating, the dropping are large and mushy looking and > Do Not Touch There, but low on her abdomin, above the thigh she will look swollen.
If this ever happens, don't wait to take her to a vet or she will die.

That is normal, but the eggs are not fertilized because there is no male in the cage. So there will not be any babies I assure you. How these birds make love is that the male just brushes up against her, and she is "pregnant" and then will lay eggs and then sit on them for at least 30 days. But in your case, she may continue to lay eggs but no babies will come out of the eggs.

Just like chickens whose unfertilized eggs we often eat, most other bird species lay eggs with or without a male. However, none are as prolific at egg laying as domesticated chickens which were bred to lay eggs en mass. Your bird is very very very unlikely to have babies without a male. There have been rare instances where females of other species have given birth to young with out a males influence but I don't think birds ever have.

Yes they can lay eggs even without a male. If your bird does this often you will want to eliminate the cuttle bone for a while. Some birds will eat it up to assist them to produce eggs.

You can have periods without a man, true?
It is the same thing, dear, they are just eggs and without a male to fertilize them, they just happen.
