She is very scared and shy just meeting new people. I thought I'd give her a chance. I know she will be terrified moving into a new home with new people. How should I furnish her kennel? Should I use blankets? Should I place it so only one of the four sides can see out and put it in a corner?

We only keep her in a kennel for the first month or so, until she is used to our home. She likes kennels and looks to them for protection. She has free house access while we are home too. After a month she will all the time.

Yes, put soft blankets in there and a chew toy so she can get rid of her anxiety if necessary. It would make her more comfortable if one of the sides of the kennel at least was up against the wall. That way she will feel more protected. But she should be able to look out into the room and see who is approaching her.

Get rid of the kennel. Let her roam free. Keep her familiar pillows, in the corner her where you placed the kennel.
She's a frightened type pup as I think of the entire picture. It seems apparent, she doesn't like the kennel. If you have to keep her in one, see if you can give her to a loving family with the room she needs. I know you love your pup, you asked us a question about her, just get rid of the kennel, let her hang out...

you should keep her close to her and let her get to know you so she feels comfortable with you..yeah i think you should put her in a almost enclosed kennel and put lots of blankets and toys so she can feel at home. BUT! DO NOT PUT HER IN A CORNER. dont just stick her in her kennel and leave her in a corner. let her walk on her own and smell new things.and if she gets scared and she feels comfortable in her kennel, she will run back in there or she will run to whomever she feels most comfortable..( that should probably be you )

Make it nice and comfy and make sure to socialize her right off the bat with other people. Sure she will be scared but don't stop introducing her to people and make it a positive experience. Don't make her do things, just socialize her. Also get her obedience classes. This way she can get all the proper training and she socialize with other dogs too! I would definetely put a dog bed in there with some blankets, toys, water and a chewy. Make sure she can see out and make sure she has shade. If she barks get a citronella collar. Have fun walking her and playing!

If she's a puppy or she's very scared, just put down some newspaper for the first week or so, because she will mo st likely pee in it. I think having it so only one side can see out is a good idea. Put in a few toys. If she's very reclusive or scared then put her food & water in her kennel, so she feels safe. Play with her and love her, and she will be a happy dog!

Do not put her in a kennel, unless you must be gone and she is destructive. It depends on what you want ,a prisoner or a companion? She has to see and be with people to learn not to be afraid.Who knows how she was treated before you got her?breeders are very cold to animals they are only a business to them.If she is rescued,God only knows how she was treated.Do cook her food,Everything is being poisonous now. I have two cats ,two dogs. I even make doggie bones.

I suggest that you put comfort blankets and toys in her kennel and for the first couple of days make sure she has little loud noises. Please make sure that everyone understands that they need to approach and stop about 2 ft away.. Let the dog come to you

if she is a puppy i would use old blankets and or towels so that if she has an accident or chews them up u really arent missing them. once she learns to go potty outside and learns not to chew i would buy a nice soft bed to put inside of it. i learned this the hard way when my dog was a puppy we bought him a very expensive memory foam dog pillow and he chewed it up one night so we put blankets in there until he grew out of the chewing stage. so use old things like blankets that u dont use any more

I don't know what you mean by kennel. outbuilding for dog came up. our very personable canine lives with us in our apartment he has toys his own pet bed he is allowed to get on the couch -he eats better than us somtimes----he is part of the family----all 95 pounds of him. dogs spring from wolves, putting them in a kennel or distancing them from the family unit(pack), can be emotionally bad for them. if you cant walk-talk-hang out with your friend don,t go get em so you can forget em
