is correct to ask a co-worker (a guy) for lunch or dinner as a token of thank you?

A person who works with me has helped me a lot to get together my gears for travel...thus; I feel that I should invite him for lunch or diner. Would it be correct? Thanks for the answers.

Sure, that would be a nice way of paying him back for all he has done. I would just keep it at a lunch though so he doesn't get other ideas. Dinner gets a little more personal. Good luck.
