You don't. You expose them to as many beliefs systems as you can and then let them decide for themselves. It is THEIR spiritual journey, not yours.

You don't tell a child what religion to follow, you show them what your beliefs are and as they get older if they want to learn more about other religions don't stop them. My family that practiced any religion were mostly Baptist. Within the family though there are those who are Catholic, Buddhist, Jewish, Orthodox Greek, agnostic, and Wicca, and a couple that have no idea what they are. (don't we all have those?)Belonging to a religion is one thing, living your faith is another. If you live your faith and your children see you living the beliefs, most likely they will choose the same. Blessed Be.

Why tell them to follow any religion? All religions are superstitions, and the world would be better off without them.
If you have children, you can help break the chain of intolerance, ignorance, violence, torture, chauvism, bigotry, and blind following if you just keep them away from religion until they are old enough to see it for what it is. Instead, teach them reason and logic and give them a deep appreciation for the world in all of its complexities.

You can't !
All you can do is be the absolute best example of the religion that you follow.
The religion that your Children follow in the end will be according to what they truly believe within their own hearts, according to their own understanding.

Jesus Christ said, to forbid not the children to come unto me for such is the kingdom of God..He also said, unless you become as a little child, you shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of God. Jesus is alive and He loves all Children, If we train up our children to follow Him, our reward will be great but if your life is not an example of Christ and his unconditional love, then, it would do no good to try to get your kids to follow a religion. You are their example, if you love Christ, they will to. But they will follow your leading in everything you do. You can lead them to pray or you can lead them to drink or smoke but you can't put them on a church bus and expect them to have their anchor of their heart in Christ without you doing the same..

The idea is not to force one particular belief on them. Teach them what -you- believe. Not what you think you're supposed to believe, not some simplified version for kids. DON'T teach them that one religion is right, that God hates people who believe other things, and that they will go to hell. Just what you think, and also mention what other people think.
And when they get old enough, encourage them to go to church with their friends to see what -they- believe (my parents did this!)
Then leave it up to them. Some people seem to have more of a need for religion and 'the worship experience' than others. I think we should all do whatever seems right for us.

You don't you let them make that decision for themselves. That is what my parents did. Of the five of us there are 2 Baptist, one Mormon, one Agnostic and one Gnostic. We all get along wonderfully because our parents instilled in us that we had the fundamental right to make our own choices and we share that right with each other.
