I had a tropical themed wedding so my cake went with that. Each layer was a different flavor. The top was almond with chocolate ganache. The middle tier was coconut with mango puree and the bottom tier was vanilla cake with pineapple filling. I loved it!
A wedding I went to just recently the brides mother made her cake with a family recipe. It was a 5 flavor pound cake--the brides favorite. I hated it but I'm sure she was so happy to share that with her guests.
My cousin is having a winter wedding and is debating between red velvet and pumpkin spice--both are fabulous! But really, that would be horrible if it were a spring or summer wedding.

We had a chocolate cake and because its so dense and heavy the icing had to be at least an inch thick to support the weight of the cake layer, so stay away from chocolate cake or else you'll only be eating a thick layer of marzipan.
I HATE the cake that is the yellow cake with the strawberry filling, gag.
For our 10th anniversary cake we are hoping to do a butter cake with milk chocolate frosting. Yummy.

Corvat: Smirnoff makes flavored vodkas too (e.g. Black Cherry, whole of 12 flavors in all). Absolut and Smirnoff each make a quantity of flavors and there's little or no overlap (Citrus/Citron and Vanilla is approximately all). Pick a taste and opt for the manufacturer that has it. If you desire Citrus or Vanilla, I select Absolut over Smirnoff. As for ideas, it rather is an issue of option. But, I like Citron (A), Vanilla (A), Pear (A) and Black Cherry (S).

Haven't had the wedding yet, not until this Saturday, but we went with a 3 tier cascading cake the bottom layer will be marble (everyone likes marble), middle layer is spice (my fiance and I's favorite) and the top is vanilla (figured it would taste the best after a year lol) But we have a lady that makes cakes for restaurants, particularly our caterer's restaurant, and her cakes are wonderful so hopefully mine turns out as beautiful and tasty as I imagine. Have a great day!! : )

We're having a cupcake "wedding cake" so we can offer lots of different flavors. The top of this will be a 2 tiered wedding cake...orange cake wit pineapple filling and buttercream icing. This is one of my favorite parts of our whole wedding plans.

Didn't have a wedding cake, per se, on display. Gave out wrapped and decorated traditional fruitcake for guests to put under their pillows, to dream on (family tradition).
However, I think the best cake I ever had was homemade walnut torte (European wedding), seconded only by carrot cake with cream cheese icing.

Mine was vanilla cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing! Honey, it was to die for!
I also love the almond flavor cake!
I did a wedding two Julys ago with vanilla cake and lemon curd filling & it was very light and summery.

I love most flavors of cake, but we didn't have one at our wedding. We opted to have individual fruit tarts instead. They were great. The strawberry were particularly popular.
