Okay, here are the only things I can find:

1. In 1995, Matt Groening, creator of "The Simpsons," created Zongo Comics.

2. A reference to "planet Zongo" appears in the 2004 book, "Why We Lie: The Evolutionary Roots of Deception and the Unconscious Mind" by David Livingstone Smith.

3. Zongo is a market town in the northern Democratic Republic of Congo, lying on the south bank of the Oubangui River, across from Bangui in the Central African Republic. It is linked by ferry to Bangui but has declined in importance as a transport hub since much traffic moved east in the late 1980s.

By the end of the First Congo War, the town was controlled by the Movement for the Liberation of Congo. In 2001 the town saw an influx of refugees from the Central African Republic, the government of which alleged former soldiers among them were behind an attempted coup in Bangui in 2002.

4. Zongo is the name of several people:

* Norbert Zongo (1949–1998), a Burkinabé journalist
* Ousmane Zongo, african arts trader from Burkina Faso
* Tertius Zongo, a Burkinabé politician and diplomat

5. When breast-milk is vomited or not taken the milk is considered bewitched by a person with evil eyes: a form of witchcraft called zongo, which is also the name of the illness. The healer treats this by cleansing the mother together with her baby, who is given purgatives. Zongo is much feared, and speaking about it was a matter of trust,, and it took time for the investigator to realize and adapt to this. However, the regular visits and long-term investigation over more than a year made it clear that zongo was frequent, and that zongo is an important danger sign recognizing prostration or lethargy, cf. Table 2. Kulegea was also sometimes thought to be caused by too strong (kali) anti-malarials, as a side-effect of quinine, amodiaquine or sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine.

I think #5 and #6 are the likeliest etymology of "Planet Zongo," but I could not find a reference to who used the term first. This may not be the prettiest disambiguation of a word, but it's a start.

P.S. I had fun researching this.
