My mom and I are visiting my Aunt as well as my cousins.Any way today after I had breakfast with just my mom and my aunt I went shopping on my own and then my aunt and my mom went back to my Aunts Apartment at her Assisted Living Place. About a half hour into my shopping my zipper to my purse broke. I went to a store and purchased a new purse (a bigger one to hold everything). This one does not have a zipper but a magnetic snap. Anyway I transferred all my stuff from my old purse into the new one, checked the old one to see if I missed anything and then threw the old one out at the mall when I saw I transferred everything into the new purse. When I came back to the apartment my mom saw my new purse and I told her what happened. When I told her I did not keep the old purse (that I threw it out after transferring everything from the old purse to the new purse) she asked me was I sure I took everything out of the old purse. I told her I did and she asked me three more times was I sure that I did take everything out of the old purse. I then told her that I needed to buy the new one and I asked her what she would have done and she said you know me I would have brought the old purse back to the apartment and checked the old purse a few more times. However, when she said the above to me what went through my mind is that she was implying I should have still used the old one.MY QUESTION: Am I thinking stupidly and how would you have interpreted what my mom said if she said it to you?

She is just being a mother. You will know when you have children of your own. Just take it with a grain of salt and let it roll of your back. -Don't take it personal. She was just looking out for you. -Good luck.

She was just making sure that you did get everything out. But did you check the old one more than one time when transferring stuff to the new one. She should had been told that you did if you really did That she would of possibly left it alone.

I would do the same thing to my daughter. It's just a Mom thing. relax.

I am also a freak about loosing things. So I actually still have a lot of my old purses and check them from time to time to see f anything is in them.
I admire you fro being able to toss your old purse.

first thing is your mom a neat freak or does she have any disorder where she does the same thing like lock the door and check it a few times afterwards? if none of these apply then maybe she just thought that in a public place is not where you should have left something behind! could have been very innocent so relax and dont worry if its empty let it go!

your mum did not mind you buying a new purse, she was only concerned that you had taken every thing out, i think i would be the same as your mum. just reassure her that you left nothing in your purse. you are so lucky to have a mum that is there for you.

She was probably just making sure that u DIDN'T forget n.e thing in the purse maybe one day she threw out a purse and forgot something in it that was important or something. Don't worry she just wants to make sure u didn't forget n.e thing.

i din't interpret this bad. she just said she would have looked few more times to make sure there wasn't anything in there. i mean shes older then you i am sure and that is her idea and she just worried you dind't take everything out. that is no big deal period.

Your Mother said to you exactly what I would have said to my daughter. It is not that she thought you should use the old one, but she probably thought that perhaps it could have been repaired.
