My son is 4 months old. When he was 2 days old he had 3 seizures all about 7 hours about. They said he was dehydrated and had low calcium. He spent 10 days in the NICU getting calcium supplements and being on Phenobarbatol. All the scans came back normal. He has an CT, MRI, EKG, Spinal tap, and tons of blood work. At one point his Parathyroid hormone level was at 256, they checked it a few days later and it was 14 so they thought the 256 was a fluke. Once he was a couple months old we noticed his eyes were alwasy moving, rapid eye movement in all directions. He also couldnt focus on anything. His nuerologist thought he was blind so he sent us to a opthamologist. He said he was not blind and his eyes are fine and that he may be crossed eyed. so by 3 months he was off the phenobarbatol and they were weaning him off the calcium. On July 26th his Fontanelle (soft spot) on top of his head was bulging. I was told to take him to the ER The did another CT, and MRI and found no fluid, no tumor.

they said everything looked fine and sent us home the next day. It is now 1 month later and it has gotten bigger and is so perdominant. The doctors don't seem to know whats wrong and I don't want to find out after its too late. He also screams when we pick him up like he is in pain, he settles back down when he is cradled, and at times he seems stiff. Can someone help me put all the pieces together? If researched so much on the internet. I don't know where to go now.

There is a discussion of abnormal fontanelles with a sort of diagnostic flowchart at:

There are a number of conditions discussed that could relate to the symptoms you describe. I would say a second opinion is in order. Parathyroid problems can cause neurological issues and problems with calcium, and there are several other candidates described.

how scary. the poor little thing. i've worked with developmentaly disabled kids alot but i'm no doc and i can't imagine what's going on with your little boy. hydrocephalus and seizure disorder come to mind but they've said everything is good. my only advice would be to contact the nearest specialized childrens hospital and get a second opinion. hope all goes well. god bless.
