My husband works outside all day and came home with several (5-6) red spots on his calves and shins. They didn't have a raised bump, just round rosy rash about the size of a pea like thing but he said they itched. Then like a day later I got a similar spot near my elbow. It didn't itch but a couple days later a bump formed and now it does itch. Any ideas?

Spots don't look scaly, just blotchy and they're not perfectly round. Not on thighs or under underwear either just wear I mentioned). Can chiggers be brought home from outside and survive?

In Texas we have chiggers ........ They usually bite either around the underwear line, bra area under the arms, socks or where the shoes are.
It is a miserable itch until it heals. I am not sure where you live but if it is in the south that is probably what it is.

If the problem is also on your thighs or anywhere in/around your genital area, and you're just not mentioning it, it's probably scabies.
Now, sometimes scabies causes itching between your fingers, but not always.
While I agree with the person who said that it could be anything, I just want to let you to know that scabies is a likelihood if it's also on your thighs, lower stomach, or genital areas.

Try the source below. It discusses both skin rashes and insect bites. Perhaps you can diagnose that skin problem.

Could be mosquitoes as sometimes the itch doesn't start immediately.
