from the site
"They want to save costs by using local talent. There's a lot of talent in the state that could be doing those jobs."
DePree would not say what the three movies are about, but he said the films will be shot primarily in Michigan, with the first planned for this fall.

Some good answers, but I think they've missed something in your question.

Even if you had an agent, they would not attend the audition with you. Their work is limited to submitting you for projects that don't have open auditions, and/or negotiating your contract after you've gotten hired.

And I also don't have an agent, even after 25+ years in the business. I did, however, hire an agent colleague to negotiate for me when I did my first New York show. This same colleague let's me know about submission-only auditions when she's not submitting any of her clients -- I've actually scored numerous auditions [and been cast a couple of times], and I think a few casting directors have thought me psychic since the information about the auditions is highly confidential. Unfortunately, she's selling her agency at the end of this year.

But I digress.

So go to those auditions with confidence that no one will laugh at you. Since you're 14, take a parent [or guardian] with you. And if you're auditioning for something other than an actual child role like one of the Von Trapp kids, contact the theatre beforehand to see what their minimum age is for non-children parts -- a lot of theatres will not hire anyone under 16 for, say, regular adult chorus.

Good luck.

It sounds like you are going to an open call for an acting/modeling school scam. Professional productions don't scour the country looking for kids to be the next big star. Do yourself a favor and ask some of the regulars on here about it before you go. Show this to your parents. We are all glad to help and we all hate to see kids and their parents get taken.

You should be fine. An agent is just there to help you find work so you don't have to worry about that part. Just be sure you have a resume' so they can see what kind of work you've done. I was an actor myself and I never had an agent, I just had a resume'.

Directors who actually know which end is up are fully aware that not ALL the talented actors they'll see at auditions have representation. Believe me, if you give a solid performance, you'll be taken seriously.

I'm an actress in NYC (and a lot older than you), and I don't have an agent...who is going to laugh? And if it's a "local audition," I'm guessing that no one there would have an agent, or they wouldn't be there, right?

As long as you give it your best, that is fine. Anybody can pay an agent enough to work for them if they are not talented. It depends on your SKILL, not who is helping you show off your skill.
