You got it right. Global warming has nothing to do with science. It is a political goal only. Dr. James Hansen, one of the scientist who is credited with discovering global warming, took $250,000.00 from John Kerry's presidential campaign in exchange for endorsing him and his environmental policy. He also developed a bogus story that President Bush tried to "muzzle" his reports.
I think H. L. Mencken said it best;
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
and
"The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it. "
As we know these fools will give up their freedom with yours and mine to these politician who promise to save them.

it's not about being a democrat, republican, or anything else for that matter. im so sick of hearing people say crap like that. the issue of global warming itself has absolutely nothing to do with politics. it's there and it's happening whether you want to believe it or not. it's happening whether you are a dem, gop or a freakin bump on a log. it's based on scientific fact. nothing more, nothing less. you are a perfect example of how people get so wrapped up in the politics of it - that they just don't care about learning the facts. you believe in god, right? how can you believe in god...without any physical evidence...yet you don't believe in global warming...yet there is LOTS of physical evidence? unfortunately, global warming is not a matter of opinion. only the politics are. one last note...if you had your facts straight and stopped listening to all the deniers...you would know that the earth WILL freeze eventually, as a RESULT of global warming ;o)

Wow, that logic is definitely founded in scientific data, isn't it?
Here's a clue. My husband is an environmental physicist with a focus in pollution control for THE most conservative (to the point of being bass-ackward) college in the bloody country, which means if global warming can be dismissed then they would do it.
Guess what? Texas A&M as in, yee-haw, Dubya lovin', have sex with your sheep in the beauty of moonlight Texas A&M also happens to have this department that researches just that subject and THEY SAY THAT GLOBAL WARMING IS VERY SERIOUS AND A REAL PROBLEM DUE TO BEING IGNORED BY FOLKS WITH THEIR HEADS IN THEIR........SHEEP!
Read a book, willya? It won't hurt, I promise, if you put lotion on your hands first, you won't even get a papercut. If you wanna start light, try Dr. Suess and work your way up. If you need help, I can recommend an adult literacy group that can help you for free!

you may not have realized it, but this is not a solely american issue. While denial in the United States seems to be an almost entirely right wing movement, these republicans agree with 99% of scientists as well:
rudy guiliani
sam brownback
newt gingrich
george w. bush
tommy thompson
mitt romney
mike huckabee
john mccain
chuck hagel
and millions more...

jello needs to provide a link(that isn't a right wing blog) when spreading urban legends about john kerry and james hansen.

that's not the point.....
Global Warming shouldn't be the main idea.....but rather just a reason for us to stop polluting the Earth
because whether or not u believe in Global Warming, u cant deny the fact that the billions of cars, factories, sewage, etc. can't be doing some sort of damage to the environment
wow dude u must be ignorant to the **** that's being put out into our environment
tell me this would u rather breathe clean air, drink fresh water, have some greens like parks, trees, grass within cities? or just drink sewage water, breathe straight from a car's exhaust since it's not polluting, less variety in species of animals cuz they've all gone extinct, and just basically live in a ******* dump because retards like u are too blind to see the consequences until ur knee deep in garbage breathing through a ******* filter paying $100 for clean water to drink

The climate-change-deniers days are over. If you want to join the flat-Earth society as well, then go right ahead. But what do you have to gain from something as silly as that?
A "reason" to blame the Democrats?

When have Ice Ages occurred?
Many glacial advances and retreats have occurred during the last billion years of Earth history. These glaciations are not randomly distributed in time.Instead, they are concentrated into four time intervals. Large, important glaciations occurred during the late Proterozoic (between about800 and 600 million years ago), during the Pennsylvanian and Permian (between about 350 and 250 million years ago), and the late Neogene to Quaternary (the last 4 million years). Somewhat less extensive glaciations occurred during portions of the Ordovician and Silurian (between about 460 and 430 million years ago).
During each of these intervals, many glacial advances and retreats occurred. For example, over 60 glacial advances and retreats have occurred during the last 2 million years.
If "ice age" is used to refer to long, generally cool, intervals during which glaciers advance and retreat, we are still in one today. Our modern climate represents a very short, warm period between glacial advances.
How did we cause the Ice ages? We weren't even on the planet yet. But it must be our fault!

The "Ice Age worries in the 70's" argument has been refuted numerous times.

Preventing the worst effects of Global Warming does not necessarily require any significant diminution of our freedoms. A carbon tax can replace other taxes. The process of converting to renewable energy and nuclear power will in fact free us from dependence on foreign oil.
P.S. Since GW is a scientific hypothesis about the future, it is impossible to "prove". It is therefore also unlikely that Al Gore offered a monetary prize to "prove" it.
It is, of course, possible for a carbon tax to replace other taxes, this is simply a matter for Congress. Congress has, in the past, approved many reductions in taxes, some in recent history. To argue to the contrary is absurd.
Ice ages are caused by periodic changes in the eccentricity of the Earth's orbit and tilt. These will occur again in the future. At such times, it may prove beneficial to burn fossil fuels, provided we haven't already burned them all.
