I am shooting with settings set to JPEG Fine/Lagre Size(10.2 MP) but when I transfer the files to my computer they are saving at 4 MB. How do I get them to save at 10MB in JPEG format? The lab I use doesn't accept TIFF unless it is mailed in on a CD. Dont want to shoot in RAW and save in TIFF too much time.

Don't confuse "megapixels" with "megabytes".

A 10 megapixel camera will give jpeg files that are around 4 megabytes in size at fine (highest quality) compression and thus, your camera is functioning properly.

Megapixels are a measure of the resolution of your sensor; megabytes are a measure of file size. They do not correlate to each other (i.e. a pixel is not a byte).

The files should be the full 10MP size, but only when the files arte opened. When stored on the disk, the compression will reduce the file size to 4MP.

To get uncompressed 10MP pictures, you can either see if your camera will take uncompressed photos like BMPs or you can open the JPG and save it as a BMP.

You're going to need a really big memory card and plenty of hard drive if you're gonna be using BMPs though.

Just because you're shooting at 10.2 Mexapixels doesn't necessarily mean it's going to save at 10 Megabytes. The higher the resolution, the sharper the image. So whatever you're shooting at sounds about right, assuming that you are shooting all your pictures at the same settings.
