This is only a guess but I don't think they get rich. When you think about what they charge and their expenses. They have to pay rent on the space for the office, clinic or hospital. They have to pay the office staff that keeps track of everything. They have to pay the vet techs that help. I think they make a better then average living and are doing it for their love of animals.
The greatest story I can tell you about a vet really caring and loving an animal has to do with my Old English Sheepdog, Barney. He was hit and run over by a truck. We put him in the car and took him to the vet. The vet said he was not going to make because of his injures. We decided to have him put down rather then suffer.
Close to two months later we had a strange car come up the road to our house. It was the young vet from where we took our animals. He was a bit nervous and told us that they had not put Barny down. He said he had a sparkle in his eye and such a will to live they could not do it. He wanted to know if we wanted him back, guess what the answer was. They did not charge for the two months care they gave him. Barny was already 10 years old so he only lived another year. But we got him back from the dead. The vet was great. He would come to visit about once a month to see Barney. I think he loved him as much as we did.
Greatest Vet in the world.
