When I first got my cockatiel, his name is Pepper he did not seem to eat his food. I use Gourmet from Animal Planet brand. Now just today I changed his water and I saw dried red splatters over it! I think its blood and I saw even more of them on the side of the cage! I took a lot at his nares and they were red. I think hes been sneezing blood. Help please???

If he is sneezing blood then he needs avian care immeadiately. Birds are very small and it doesn't take much for them to bleed out. Keep him warm and take him to an avian vet ASAP. Now bird seeds do tend to have dye on them. Reds, blues, greens, etc. Make sure that he hasn't jsut wet a seed and gotten the dye all over the place. Check his nares, and see if any blood/mucos is comignf rom them at the moment. ry nto to stress out right away. If you can see any seed with dye on it then jsut take him to the vet. Better safe then sorry. My conure puts pieces of dyed wood in ehr water and gets some of it on her bars. Someitmes it's red, sometimes blue, other tiems, orange, purple, or green. But if you can't find any of that, then the avian vet is your only option. keep him warm, and get to the vet!

If ANYTHING ever goes wrong like this, even if it seems to be a little problem, take the bird straight to your vet.

Don't hesitate.
