Last Monday night someone ran into my grandma's car, smashed it into her new car and drove through her garage. They left the scene. The neighbors report seeing a damaged SUV leaving the scene shortly after hearing the crash but could not tell the type due to a high rate of speed. They left part of their car behind though, the left front wheel well liner. I have found the same type of liner on a Ford F150 V8 Triton... this is a truck, not an SUV though and the distance between the wheels is too far apart. The vehicle that hit is an SUV, has the same wheel well liner as an F150 (it is a large Ford vehicle, an early 21st century model, newer wheel well liners are different.) the distance between the outside of the tires is 75 inches. Can anyone tell me what vehicle did this? I would really appreciate the help since they caused many thousands of dollars worth of damage, Thanks.

I took it to the dealerships and body shops, it doesn't have a part number so they won't help us.

The police say they will not try until we have a license plate number. Apparently ruining one car, damaging another and driving through someones home isn't enough to make the police care.

I had to go out and compare it to Fords on a used car lot by hand until I finally found one that matched, the truck listed above.

I looked for paint, I found some rubber residue from a bumper, I overturned every brick, every piece of wood... no paint residue.

Again, the police don't care, if we solve the crime they will go to arrest the guy when they get around to it, unless we do all the world they don't want anything to do with it.... there is no money in catching this guy for them, seatbelt violations bring in more money.

It is possible that it could have been a F-150 and just had a camper shell on the back. It may have been an Expedition too.

With all the damage, and leaving the inner fender liner. It should not be too hard for the cops to locate the messed up truck,SUV on the road.

Hopefully, your Grandma has insurance and will be covered. good luck.

Ford Expedition, or Ford Excursion from 1998 to 2004.
Or the Lincoln/Mercury Counterparts. Navigator and Blackwood.

Expedition is what you would be looking for, they use the identical body parts on the front clip as F-150s. The Excursions would be a match with F-250 and F-350 Super Duty.

You should also look at the damage on the car to see what color the SUV was that hit you. With as much damage as you say there is, it should be easy to see. That will narrow down the search alittle bit. Hope you catch them.

Report this to the Police. They will investigate it. Hit and run is a felony.
