well you just want what is best for him in the end it is his decision. if he wants to keep weed a part of his life then you need to make the decision of keeping him in your life, as well as weed because as long as your with him its going to be a problem. unles he decides on his own to let it go.
GOOD LUCK

Not because you want him to, but because you want him to for a good REASON. Explain to him how bad it is for your health. The best way is to find a really gruesome "after" picture on the internet of the inside of the body after smoking pot for however long. Hopefully it'll scare the crap out of him and he'll stop smoking it. But you do partially have to let him quit on his own, but encourage him.

You can ask him to, but he won't do it unless he decides he will/can. Your choice will then be can you live with someone is a pot smoker.
It seems like if he continues doing it, you'll eventually get sucked back into smoking since it's around.
It's a major lifestyle choice. Could be a relationship deal-breaker.

I think you should talk to him about your concerns. It's not too controlling to express your concerns about this. You certainly can't force him to do anything. The question is whether or not this is a deal breaker for you. You have the right to choose whether or not to be with someone. If it's not a deal-breaker than you can express that you'd like him to quit but you have to respect his decision about whether or not he wants to.

I think that we are all adults and when he is ready to quit he will, if you put alot of pressure on him he will only get upset and it may make him do it even longer, because men don't like ultimatums, pray for him and be patient, he may decide to stop on his own!!

No, you do not have the right. You can make your feelings known, but respect his decision just as he is respecting yours.
I do not think you are too controlling or you would not have felt the need to ask this question.

You asked him to stop smoking cigarettes so what would be wrong with ASKING him to stop smoking weed. Not make him just ask.

Of course you should, tell him that you are concerned for his health. It's not wrong to ask him to stop doing something you know is bad for him. Go ask him^_^

Smoking pot is irresponsible and illegal. Tell him that you have quit and ask him to do the same.

ask him to stop, tell him that you are worried about his health. if he mentions that you used to do it, say that you quit because you realised it was unhealthy. you only want the best for him
