is there a point to repenting your sins? it just means you can go about doing what you want, doing wrong and hurting others as long as you coe back at the end of the day and are forgiven. but even if you you didnt repent isnt god all forgiving, so there is no need in repenting your sins?

It is not that way. Some one who has truly repented will do what ever try can to not repeat the sin. Yes repenting removes the Sin. It does not however remove the moral obligation given by God to try and not Sin. Otherwise you truly will not repent for your Sins knowing that you will just go out and do it again.

Yes those who have repented of Sins have Sinned again and yes they have repeated the same sin. If one truly follows love thy neighbor as thy self then you will not want to sin and they will try to remove things that are sinful.

As the word "repent" means to turn away from an action on stop doing it, it would be impossible to repent and then continue to do the same sin.

If you read the Bible, you will find it teaches there are two parts to "forgiveness". As stated in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive them and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". So there is more involved then just "forgive and ignore".

Rather the second part of the God's forgiveness is that cleanses or changes us so that we no longer continue in that sin. You will notice that when Jesus forgave people, he also instructed them to "go and sin no more".

As far as God being "all forgiving", that is not taught in the Bible. It only forgives those sins which are confessed (admitted to) and repented of (that we then top doing). There is no place in scripture were God forgives unconfessed sin, nor sin to which we continue to cling. If we don't deal with it, it remains....

What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Let it not be! We who died to sin, how shall we still live in it?
(Romans 6:1-2)

Repenting does not refer to simply asking for forgiveness. Repenting means that we are truely sorry that we have sinned and desire to do it no more.

As Christians, we continue to sin. It is impossible for us to be perfect. But the point is that we strive to be who God wants us to be. When we fail and sin God is their to forgive a truely repentant heart, help us through our sorrow, and get us back on track. Through this our drive to commit sins deminishes over time and we become closer to what God wants us to be.

"Repenting" is a way of showing God you acknowledge that the acts are sinful and wrong. True repentence means you will learn from those sins. So... no, you can't keep committing the same sins over and over again and expect forgiveness, your actions proving you aren't asking to be forgiven but to be absolved. God never supports a sinful life, but upon acknowlegement will always forgive. He forgives becaue he sent his own son to die for those sins. If we fail to acknowledge that sacrifice or our sins, then we aren't saved.

Acts 2:38 says that we must repent and be baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. Then we will be given the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in an unknown language. This will enable us to quit sinning and to become Holy!

Yes, God and Jesus and Their One Holy Spirit have all fully forgiven all sinners BEFORE they think to pray-ask God for forgiveness ! Just as a wise human father and mother will forgive their baby Child of God when he or she spits up milk or cries at night. God is infinitely all wise and all loving and all merciful !

Yes, all humans still sin, and they will be sorry and still sin again and again (hopefully ever smaller sinnings and errors !) for about one trillion more years in continual ever higher ascensions into the Father-Infinite I AM on Paradise and in and with Jesus !

Here is our Father's and Jesus' loving Invitation-Command:

"I AM the Almighty God; walk before Me and be you perfect, even as I AM perfect."

The best way to know that God has fully forgiven all of your sins is to wholeheartedly forgive all other humans when they sin ! If you are big enough to forgive sins; look at how much more easy our Father-Son-Infinite Spirit God can and does forgive you and me and all !

Read and fully believe John 12:31-32 !

and Ps 1:6 "The WAY of the sinner shall be destroyed" --and the sinner will progress in Spirit and learn to sin no more !

The reason people repent is because they are sorry for their sins, not so they can go out and sin again, you are supposed to repent and try never to do that again. That is the intent, to apologize ask for forgiveness and try to not repeat that behavior again.

I never believed that sins are indeed forgiven just like that. There's a balance in life and you always get what you give. It is a good thing, though, to be aware of the bad things you did - it is the first step a person can make into stop doing the bad things it does

Repentance is mandatory and was made possible through the atonement of Jesus. Repentance must be sincere and final. Repentance that is not sincere will not be counted, and a relapse after sincere repentance is a very serious sin and can be repented of, but not easily.

Repent and sin some more is an oxymoron. To "repent" means to change your mind about sin. If one truly repents of their sin, they no longer practise it. Those who say they repent and then continue to sin have not repented at all.
