The Russians know from experience (Afganistan) that it is a No Win situation in the middle east.
They are better off making money by selling weapons to the middle eastern countries.
Even George Bush Sr knew better than to go into Bagdad as per recorded press confrences indicate.

Our American President answered the 'call' to attack Iraq because:
a) The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was ridiculed, criticized and humiliated for 'not finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time;
b) Dick Cheney and his Exxon-Mobil buddies wanted all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so they could become richer and richer and richer feeding America's addiction to cheap, easily-accessible foreign OIL;
c) Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex (which Eisenhower warned us about) recognized how profitable 'war' could be. So all the politicians were bought up, pricey lobbyists were hired, and special interest groups were formed to promote and encourage more 'war'. Thus, the U.S. became entangled in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam and Desert Storm so corporations like McDonnell-Douglass, Lockheed-Martin and Sikorsky could make billions of dollars and boost their sagging profits from years of 'peace' time. Also, two 'newcomers' had bellied up to the government's 'war trough': the Carlyle Group and Halliburton both have direct ties to the Bush-Cheney White House and needed to reap their fair share of a mutli-trillion-dollar 'war' boondoggle.
That's why America 'answered the call' to attack Iraq. The American Congress, American citizens and American soldiers were all conned into believing we're fighting to bring democracy to Iraq, or establish peace in the Middle East, or defend our country against "terrorists" in unknown 'evil empires'. The raw truth is we're killing 675,000 Iraqis and 3,700 U.S. soldiers all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful -RKO- 08/21/07

The United States government trained most of the terrorist groups that now reside in the Middle East. They trained them during the Cold War so that they could combat Soviet control of the region. Well, apparently they trained them a little too well, because they contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union.
After they managed to outlast the Russians, they figure there's only one superpower left on the block. So they come for us, and we fight back. It really wouldn't do well for our public image if some pissants from Nowheresville could slap us in the face and run off.
I hope this answers your troll question, foreigner.

Because the Russians don't have a stable enough government. After the collapse of the U.S.S.R. the Russian government has never been too stable, and definitely not stable enough to fight a war against an unpredictable outcome. They do not have the military resources, or the stability.

The Russians were too busy selling weapons to terrorists and drinking vodka.
